Captain Hog's Combat Record took place during the Golden Age of Caribbean Pirates, where he competed with the great pirates of the Seven Seas, and pirates from England, France, Spain, the Netherlands, and even the three Nordic kingdoms for a divine artifact known as the "Right of the Sea King."
The pirate kings of the Seven Seas had all gathered there, along with descendants of the Great Old One, massive flagships from several royal fleets that were said never to sink, the Church's Knightly Orders, royal guards, and spellcasters. They fought over this "Legacy of the Great Old One" as though immortals were clashing.
Players with insufficient stakes, like the three Nordic kingdoms of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, could only serve as background decoration even when they sent out official fleets. If they truly dared to snatch chestnuts from the fire, any one pirate faction could wipe them out.
Under normal circumstances, even Captain Hog at the height of his power would have struggled to gain an advantage in such a contest. He would have had to rely on the Calamity of the Sea's ability to dive into the deep ocean and temporarily evade the enemy's edge, waiting until both sides had been battered before finding a slim chance at victory.
After all, though Hog was known as the nightmare of the Mediterranean Sea, a grotesquely terrifying undead being, he only had one ship.
Among the pirate kings of the Seven Seas, any one of them other than him commanded hundreds of ships, thousands of cannons, tens of thousands of pirates, and hundreds of extraordinary individuals. They themselves possessed either a holy relic or a divine artifact, formidable figures comparable to dark overlords of their own domains.
