Ning City Culture Company

Lin Xue had been overwhelmed lately. As a capable key member of Ning City Culture Co., Ltd., she had recently been assigned a task: find models that met their exacting requirements.

Naturally, these were not ordinary figurines, but special models. Ning City Culture Co., Ltd. was preparing to shoot a big-budget film.

It was a science fiction film. Although China had produced quite a few sci-fi films in recent years, most of them were false advertising—nothing more than hiring popular idols and packaging them into so-called sci-fi movies.

But the film Ning City Culture Co., Ltd. was making was fundamentally different from those so-called sci-fi films of the past. This was a genuine big-budget production, and the actors they had hired were mostly seasoned veterans.

The company had invested a great deal of money and hired many special effects artists, yet one critical problem remained unresolved.

The scene effects they created simply could not meet their requirements. Either the settings lacked imagination, or the resulting effects were deeply unsatisfactory.

As a direct result, the film had been delayed indefinitely. After the postponement, countless people online attacked Ning City Culture Co., Ltd., claiming that the company was merely using Chinese sci-fi as a gimmick.

For a company with genuine passion, this was absolutely intolerable. They therefore resolved to completely replan every aspect of the project.

For the special effects, they had to hire the best VFX teams. But they discovered that those teams required a certain amount of real-world scenery—in other words, the sets had to be built around corresponding models.

Without physical models, creating the effects from scratch would be extremely difficult, and they were already running out of time.

If they had time, it would be manageable—they could slowly polish everything to perfection. But there was not much time left, so they had to find highly detailed models.

Yet after hearing their requirements, even the major model companies shook their heads and admitted they could do nothing. No one had the ability to produce so many models with such vastly different concepts in such a short time.

Thus, Ning City Culture Co., Ltd. assigned specific tasks to the heads of every department, telling them to find excellent teams to outsource the model work to.

They had to produce satisfactory models. Lin Xue had been given one such assignment, but after several days, she still had no leads at all.

But just then, she suddenly received a call from Cao Deming. Cao Deming was her former classmate, and after hearing about her situation, he immediately recommended someone to her.

Apparently, this person had an extremely capable team behind him that could provide them with exquisite models. The models were said to be realistic enough to pass for the real thing; in some cases, they would only need post-production effects, without needing to alter the models themselves at all.

After hearing Cao Deming's recommendation, Lin Xue remained skeptical. She had never heard of any team with such formidable capabilities, so she called the person Cao Deming had recommended with a doubtful attitude.

When Chen Feng received the call, he was rather curious as well. Once he learned that Cao Deming had referred her, he readily replied.

"Our company team takes on all kinds of models. Large-scale models are no problem either. We can make the main components and then assemble them. The result will definitely satisfy you. Inspect the goods before you pay."

After all, Chen Feng had virtually no production costs, so inspection before payment was not a problem at all.

But this only made Lin Xue even more suspicious.

"Could Cao Deming be messing with me?"

That was what Lin Xue thought. Still, with the attitude of treating a dead horse as if it were alive, she arranged to meet Chen Feng in three days and said she would bring over the first model.

Chen Feng had set the time. Three days was more than enough; even one day would have sufficed. But to be safe, he scheduled it three days later and had Lin Xue send him the files for the model they wanted made.

He specifically requested an electronic version. Electronic files could be directly replicated in the 3D Printer, and once materials were fed in, they could be printed straight away.

Very soon, he received the electronic files Lin Xue had sent. He loaded them into the 3D Printer, injected the Raw Materials, and began printing. The model was a large rifle.

This model gun looked completely different from anything he had seen before. It was a concept rifle. In the movie, it fired Electromagnetic Cannons and could also shoot powerful laser beams.

In short, it was a concept weapon, and an extremely difficult one to make. Leaving aside its intricate patterns, it also contained hollow internal mechanisms, and those hollow sections had complex patterns of their own.

After creating it with special effects, they had gone through several VFX teams without being satisfied. That was why they decided to make a physical model. After all, if they sculpted a real object and then handled it in post-production, they could achieve a highly satisfactory result.

However, making the model was still extremely difficult, and at one point, they had proposed abandoning this rifle altogether. But designing the concept rifle had not been easy either, so they temporarily kept it.

Chen Feng did not spend long making one component of the rifle. Since the rifle was relatively large, it could only be assembled from parts.

The rifle's model blueprint was very complete, but it had not been broken down into detailed components. This small 3D Printer, however, could split it apart directly, after which it only needed to be assembled by hand.

If he had a large printer, Chen Feng guessed that something like this rifle could be printed whole. It might even be possible to print an entire building out of thin air. Of course, that was only his imagination—the ring had never told him such a thing existed. Still, since this printer was called a small 3D Printer, a large 3D Printer definitely existed.

His current level was not high enough, so for now, he could only use this small 3D Printer.

After several hours, he had printed every component and manually assembled them all. Holding the finished item in his hands, Chen Feng felt as though he had transformed into a soldier from the future.
