Misaka Mikoto was instantly furious.
"Don't underestimate me!"
Violent crackling electricity burst from her body, exploding without cease.
But Fang Li merely exerted a little force, and Misaka Mikoto cried out in pain, the electricity around her vanishing.
"This is the weakness of Espers born through ability development."
Fang Li held Misaka Mikoto firmly in place as he spoke nonchalantly.
"Since they need to calculate ability formulas within their brains in order to use their powers successfully, once they're disrupted by external factors, they can't use their abilities properly."
Even Accelerator, known as the strongest Esper, had once been targeted through this weakness. Kihara Gouta had developed a device capable of interfering with his calculations, allowing Kakine Teitoku to suppress him completely for a time.
"If they're natural Espers, they don't have that weakness."
Fang Li's words reminded Misaka Mikoto of something.
I almost forgot. This guy, like The Seventh, is one of the world's highest-level Espers.
At the very least, that was how Academy City presented Fang Li to the public.
And just thinking about that made Misaka Mikoto angry.
"You're obviously one of the world's highest-level Espers, yet you hid your abilities all this time and enrolled in an ordinary high school as a regular student. That's just too underhanded!"
Misaka Mikoto condemned him.
"Unlike the highly competitive Lady Mikoto, I just wanted an ordinary school life. I'd rather not have anything to do with such attention-grabbing things, you know?"
Fang Li answered with a smile.
The two remained locked in a stalemate in the alley, one struggling desperately while the other held her firmly in place.
From a distance, they looked completely tangled together.
"Just admit defeat!"
"Who would admit defeat?!"
"Do you really think you still have a chance to turn this around?"
