Eliza switched off the television with the remote in her hand.
But the news they had just watched had already made the atmosphere in the room heavy.
"That's the situation."
Eliza said this with what sounded like a sigh.
"Russia-led European Federation has now declared war on Academy City, and even on England. France, also a member of the European Federation, has begun making moves as well. We have confirmed that they have dispatched a fleet toward our country. A small-scale war between our nations will probably break out within days, then escalate into a world war in one fell swoop, won't it?"
That was only the beginning.

Two Safety Devices had once been implanted within Index.
One was a "collar" engraved deep in Index's throat, which would endanger her life if she did not erase her memories when the one-year limit arrived.
The other was the "Automatic Recording," which normally remained dormant but automatically activated whenever Index Librorum Prohibitorum faced a threat to her life or an enemy attack. It would handle or repel the threat in Index's place, freely wield the original texts of one hundred and three thousand Grimoires, and thoroughly protect Index Librorum Prohibitorum's knowledge from being seized by plunderers.
The former had once been killed and destroyed by Fang Li using the Magic Eye.
