After all, in the minds of quite a few haters, "suspense" was usually equated with "a rushed ending." Some even thought leaving plot threads unresolved was utterly unforgivable.

But those of you who had read the original Classroom of the Elite should know that I had already explained everything that needed explaining and tied up every loose end that needed tying. As for the rest, even the original work had yet to finish it. If I just made things up and got slapped in the face for it later, what then?

So, when I decided to write this Classroom of the Elite side story, I had already planned to write only up until the end of summer vacation, resolve the plot threads that needed resolving, and explain what needed explaining. As for things that even the original work had yet to make clear, I wasn't going to write them recklessly and risk ruining the story.

Therefore, it was only natural for this side story to end with some suspense left behind. That was a decision I had made from the very beginning.

As it happened, the main story had also left behind suspense and room for imagination regarding First Level. Having the side story do the same could be considered a fitting echo.
