"Then when can you go for the examination?"
In the bright sunlight, the boy standing beneath it looked at the beautiful girl leaning against the back door of the house, one shoulder bathed in sunlight. After a moment of awkwardness, he spoke.
"Examination?"
Hearing this abrupt question, the girl paused slightly, clearly not expecting him to ask that so suddenly.
"Yes, a physical examination. To treat your eyes."
The boy spoke again.
"Oh, that. I'm afraid it'll take seven days to... Hm? What? I'm here, go ahead?"
The girl had been about to answer, but halfway through, she suddenly pressed her right ear and frowned, her words abruptly changing course.
"Sorry, Chiba. Something came up."
Then, loosening the hand at her right ear slightly, the girl apologized to the boy.
"Go ahead."
The boy hurriedly replied.
"Ah, tell me. I'll start handling it right away!"
Hearing that, the girl nodded. After leaving behind an apologetic smile, she pressed her hand to her ear again. While contacting the scene of the incident, she turned and went back inside.
The boy merely smiled and watched her enter the house.

After watching Yukina return to her room and disappear from sight, Chiba turned around and looked at the three massive logs behind him, each thick enough that three people would have to join hands to encircle it. His face fell.
A new training plan was not so easy to decide on.
Basic training with a count above three thousand was impossible too. It took far too much time.
If Yukina had not interrupted his train of thought earlier, Chiba would only have sunk into a sea of frustration. And now, he had fallen right back into it.
