"Then I'll leave the rest to you. The examination didn't leave you feeling unwell, did it?"
Gently helping Yukina sit behind her desk in the camp office, Chiba still seemed somewhat uneasy as he asked.
"I'm fine!"
A light sheen of sweat covered Yukina's face. After the body samples had been taken, she had hurried back with Chiba, finally returning to work within an hour and resuming her duties.
Hearing Chiba's question, she answered honestly.
It had only been a body sample collection. They had drawn a little blood and performed some tests and sampling on her eyes. It was neither tiring nor likely to cause any problems.
"All right, then I'll head back to the village."
As Yukina spoke, Chiba looked her over from head to toe. He could not see any sign from her complexion that something might be wrong, so he prepared to deal with what came next.
He had things to do as well.
Or rather, there was something that had not seemed like much before, but now he could not stop worrying about it.
"Mm, all right."
Yukina had already picked up the radio on the desk. Hearing Chiba's words, she naturally nodded in agreement.
"Will you be all right by yourself?"
Still seemingly uneasy, Chiba asked.
"It's fine, don't worry. I'm already a Defense Force consultant. Captain Watanabe has arranged for people to protect me in secret, so you don't need to worry about my safety."
Yukina clearly knew what Chiba was worried about and said, "Captain Watanabe has always had people assigned to protect me."
Obviously, Chiba was worried about her safety. After all, once he left, she would be the only one remaining in the camp.
What Chiba did not know was that ever since she had become a consultant, Watanabe Kenshin
