"Then I'll leave it to you."
Setting down his brush, Chiba rolled up the scroll he had just written and handed it forward as he spoke.
"Yes, understood, Lord Chiba."
The instant he extended his hand, a figure suddenly appeared before the desk and took the scroll.
"Go on."
Chiba said nothing more. He merely stood up and gave the order.
"Yes!"
Hearing Chiba's words, the Anbu Ninja who had suddenly appeared said nothing further. After bowing slightly, he vanished from the spot once more.
So there was actually an office like this beneath the Hokage Building... Though judging by the looks of it, it was probably used by important departments whenever some major upheaval occurred within the village.
And there seemed to be personnel here specifically responsible for transmitting information. Even when there was no crisis, this was likely where confidential documents were drafted and delivered.
I've really learned something today.
It seemed that even an assistant could not know every secret within the village.
Watching the Anbu Ninja leave, Chiba could not help but feel a little wistful.
After he and Nozawa Aso returned to the Hokage Building and split up, one going down and the other up, he had been brought here by someone Minato Namikaze—or perhaps Nozawa Aso—had arranged. It was such a hidden place that even he, a former assistant, had never known of it.
The reason he had been brought here was naturally to write down every detail of this mission.
Chiba had, of course, truthfully recorded everything that had happened along the way in detail. However, he had omitted the matters concerning Orochimaru and that mysterious man. At the time, he had been the only one there, so there was no need to worry about anyone leaking information.
