Through the curtain of rain, Chiba looked at the blurred figure ahead and called out softly.

It's nothing! Hurry on over. I'm not entirely sure either, but according to Genma, Kakashi should be carrying out a mission there. He'd just come out of the Hokage's Office.

Then, Namiashi Raidō's voice drifted over from the distance ahead.

Mm, got it. And thanks for the braised meat and pickled vegetables, too.

Hearing that, Chiba nodded heavily and raised a hand in farewell. The bag rustled softly as he added another word of thanks.

This time, though, there was no response. The blurred figure seemed to wave before vanishing into the rain.

Was this guy quiet whenever he got serious, or was he just the reserved type? Watching the figure disappear into the downpour, Chiba slowly lowered his hand, his brows furrowing slightly as he grumbled inwardly.

Still, although Raidō's behavior today had made him question his impression of the man, Raidō's appearance had come at exactly the right time. Chiba had accidentally let something slip earlier. After mentioning Kakashi, with so many thoughts on his mind, he had inadvertently blurted out that he was going to the Hokage Building. By sheer coincidence, he had received the best possible response.

He had learned a reliable piece of information about Kakashi's current whereabouts from Raidō, saving him the trouble of bothering Minato Namikaze.

Just now, Raidō had given him a very important piece of information. He had gotten it from his current teammate, Genma Shiranui—Genma. When Raidō had come to deliver these things, he had happened to run into Genma, who was also preparing to take leave. Genma had then spotted Kakashi rushing off somewhere and asked him about it.
