"Now then, with the Chunin Selection Exam about to begin, will those responsible for the rookie Genin please step forward? Kakashi, Kurenai, and Asuma."
After announcing the date of the Chunin Exams, the Third Hokage looked at the Jonin and Chunin before him, paused briefly, then spoke with grave seriousness.
At his words, Kakashi, Kurenai, and Asuma stepped forward in turn.
"Well? Among the ninja under your charge, are there any Genin you would recommend for this exam?"
Once the three had taken their places, the Third Hokage removed his pipe from his mouth and spoke solemnly.
"As for the requirements, any Genin who has completed more than eight missions may take the exam based on your recommendation and their own wishes. Normally, though, they would need to have completed twice that number before being eligible."
