Amid the dull rumbling, after Kakashi and the other two stopped whispering, the cracks spreading across the rock wall above them seemed to have received some sort of signal. They instantly spread like a spiderweb, and fragments of stone rained down.
In the blink of an eye, the rock wall was covered in cracks. As stone chips fell away, rays of light began to filter through the wall.
Pat pat pat!
Then, palm-sized chunks of rock fell from above like a sudden downpour. As this rain of stone continued, more and more light shone in, patches of brightness spilling down and instantly illuminating the small space, which was no longer sealed.
Boom!
At that moment, another heavy muffled impact sounded, as though something had stomped within the enclosed space.
Rumble!
Then came a dull roar. The inner wall, which had seemed capable of holding out for some time yet, collapsed with a crash. Under the force transmitted through it, the rocks that had been cracking and falling apart suddenly exploded outward.
In an instant, daylight flooded in and everything opened up. Kurenai Yuhi and Might Guy, sheltering beneath the much smaller earth shield Kakashi had created, looked up at the same time, their expressions changing abruptly.
"Kakashi, he's here!"
At that sight, both their hearts tightened, and they cried out instinctively.
At this moment, in their eyes, the scattered rock fragments seemed to have frozen in midair, forming a spiraling passage that stretched straight upward.
At the very center of the passage's highest point stood a figure in the pose of leaping upward, chest thrust out and right fist clenched, while his left hand was already raised toward the sky.
