After the two Silver Moon Black Robes waited patiently for quite a while, Chiba finally let out a long breath and spoke in a relieved tone.
"I just couldn't quite figure it out..."
At the end, he added one more sentence.
"Oh? You believe whatever we tell you? Aren't you afraid it's all just a story, and we were actually sent to watch you? Aren't you afraid we approached you with ulterior motives? Or that Dawn has been waiting to latch onto someone like you, the acting Hokage, before making some major move?"
Number 14 had yet to speak, but Number 15 finally lost patience and started snapping at him again in that nearly mocking tone.
"I trust you two."
Yet Chiba's answer was remarkably straightforward. Before Number 15 had even finished his final sarcastic remark, Chiba had already spoken those resolute words.
After finishing his retort, Number 15 was left choking on his words. He was utterly unable to say anything.
"Hmph!"
In the end, he could only snort coldly.
Number 14 said nothing, but it was clear that after Chiba spoke those words, her slightly tense body relaxed, as though she had finally let out a long sigh of relief.
As if something she had been worrying about could finally be set aside.
"Aren't you afraid your leader will accuse you of betraying the organization?"
