It made no sense.
As the hand faintly glowing before his eyes slowly vanished from view when he raised his gaze, Shikamaru Nara looked around. Amid the utter darkness, a deeply puzzling thought crossed his mind.
He could not understand Uchiha Nobuhiko's purpose in making such a huge spectacle. He could not understand why Uchiha Nobuhiko had not killed them.
By the most basic logic, if Uchiha Nobuhiko intended to attack Konoha and knew that his rival, Teacher Chiba, was also in Konoha, then he should have killed them one by one at the final testing grounds of the Chunin Exams. He should even have killed all the prominent figures with major influence over Konoha.
Then Uchiha Nobuhiko would have basically won half the battle. Even if Teacher Chiba ultimately won, he would still have claimed at least half the victory.
All he would need to do was come back again.
Shikamaru Nara found the current situation utterly incomprehensible.
By now, he was certain that he was not some sort of spiritual body. He possessed a real body of flesh and blood. Combined with the strange sensation of falling to the ground without any impact, he was sure that he was truly unharmed.
Uchiha Nobuhiko really had not harmed them.
And now Shikamaru Nara truly could not understand it. Could it be that Uchiha Nobuhiko genuinely did not want to hurt them?
But if he did not want to hurt them, then why attack Konoha? The logic did not add up.
It was simply impossible.
He had not forgotten that Uchiha Nobuhiko had been the instigator
