The exit was close...
As the light ahead grew brighter, Chiba's figure—rushing so swiftly he was almost nothing more than a faint shadow—gradually became clearer, and his speed began to slow. The sounds of branches snapping and falling gradually faded away as well.
Even the pattering sound of his footsteps hitting the ground slowly disappeared. He moved silently and swiftly through the primeval forest.
Clearly, Chiba had completely calmed down and begun adjusting the way he traveled.
During his earlier mad dash, he had already crossed most of this primeval forest. The light ahead was growing brighter and brighter, and he was nearly at the forest's exit—or rather, at a place where the leaves had grown sparse enough for light to filter through.
After all, this primeval forest was lush and dense. Outside, the sun had only just shifted from white to a faint golden hue; it was still afternoon. Yet inside, it was as dark as night, murky and dim. Clearly, the branches and leaves of these ancient giant trees had completely blocked out the sunlight.
The growing brightness obviously meant there was either an exit from the primeval forest ahead or an open clearing within it, allowing light to shine in and illuminate part of the forest.
In other words, Chiba might soon reach the turning point of fate—the place where fate unfolded, where Obito died.
But he could not conclude that the place ahead was where fate unfolded...
Although this primeval forest matched the one in his memories, and the place where fate unfolded was definitely here, that did not mean his current direction led there.
This primeval forest covered a vast area. Giant trees surrounded it on all sides, and routes could be taken in every direction. Even now, with every leap, he could choose to
