True Moon Reflecting Wine (Please Keep Reading!)
Unlike ordinary magical artifacts, Storage Bags possessed a special restriction that, once activated, recognized an owner.
One had to repeatedly scour it with mana, washing away the original restriction before it could be opened.
This normally took several hours, but Xiao Chen's mana recovered quickly. He used only One Hour to forcibly break the original restriction.
After activating it anew, it became his own Storage Bag.
"So small?"
At his first look inside the Storage Bag, Xiao Chen was stunned.
The Storage Bags issued by the Li Fire Sect were only three feet cubed—three feet in length, width, and height—with very limited capacity.
They could basically only hold commonly used items and could not carry anything particularly large.
Yet this new Storage Bag was unexpectedly only one foot cubed, even more diminutive.
Everything inside was visible at a glance: two small booklets, a Talisman Brush, several stacks of Talisman Paper, a token, two small jade bottles, and six wine flasks.
He took out the items one by one.
He first leafed through the two booklets. One was titled Three Truths Mystical Method of Luo Tian, while the other was titled Transformation Law Talisman Scripture.
Hm?
Xiao Chen leaned back slightly. The title of the first one sounded rather grand. Was this something a Late-Stage Qi Refining Rogue Cultivator should possess?
He immediately opened it and read, discovering that it recorded three different offensive spells.
They were the 'Luo Tian Mysterious Fire Crow,' 'Heavens Devouring Sea Serpent,' and 'Heavens Blood Thorns.'
The spell names sounded formidable, and they were clearly from the same source. But judging by their mana requirements, this was most likely a Yellow-grade Spell.
In most cases, advanced spells required more mana to cast. Thus, when facing an unfamiliar spell, one could judge its grade this way.
But upon seeing this spellbook, Xiao Chen immediately recalled the earlier battle.
Though he had dealt with those two Robber Cultivators rather easily, he had also clearly felt that his offensive methods were not varied enough.
If there had been one more enemy, he would most likely have been attacked. If there had been two more, he might even have needed to suffer injuries to win.
That was far too dangerous. If he encountered a gang of five Robber Cultivators, wouldn't he be finished?
Normally, Inner Sect Disciples received new cultivation methods, which naturally came with corresponding spells to protect their path.
Yet Xiao Chen's cultivation method had been withheld for so long. They were deliberately dragging him down. At this thought, he added another mark against the Jiang Family in his heart.
Jiang Ji Quan was the one in the Scripture Pavilion withholding his cultivation method. He had already earned his death.
But Jiang Ji Quan was, after all, a Foundation Establishment Cultivator. He could live two more days.
Fortunately, he now had the Three Truths Mystical Method of Luo Tian to supplement his abilities. Xiao Chen made up his mind to learn these three spells later and broaden his methods.
He then flipped through the Transformation Law Talisman Scripture. Sure enough, it was an inheritance for Talisman Making.
Together with the Talisman Brush and stacks of Talisman Paper, they were all tools used for Talisman Making. They were of no use to Xiao Chen for now, so he put them into his original Storage Bag to gather dust.
Next came the black token, made of Poplar Wood.
The front bore the eight characters, "Fair Trade" and "Unity and Mutual Aid," against the backdrop of a full moon.
The upper part of the back was engraved with, "The First Quarter Moon shall be the date; this token shall serve as proof." Below, in tiny characters, was a location: "Three li southwest of Cattle Village," with a Clear Spring in the background.
"Interesting. Could this be a Black Market established by cultivators from Quanzhou?"
Xiao Chen could be considered half a local, and he had some impression of Cattle Village. It should be a small village southeast of Li Fire Market.
If he remembered correctly, southwest of Cattle Village was a vast forest. It connected in all directions, making it an excellent location for a Black Market.
No name was engraved on the token, so he could take it to the Black Market and have a look.
However, the First Quarter Moon referred to two dates, the eighth and the twenty-third. He did not know which day it specifically meant.
Xiao Chen counted on his fingers. Today was already the twenty-sixth day of the Twelfth Lunar Month. If he wanted to visit the Black Market, he would have to wait until the eighth, then try his luck southwest of Cattle Village.
He put away the token and picked up the two small jade bottles.
One contained red cinnabar, while the other seemed to contain Spirit Beast blood, its stench heavy and fishy. Both were likewise used for Talisman Making and were of no use to him.
Only the six wine flasks remained. Four were empty, and three of those had small slips of paper pasted to their outsides.
"Imitating wine flasks is so difficult. Adjust the clay ratio to..."
"No more wasting it. You clearly know Moon Reflecting Wine only works the first time it is drunk, so why can't you control your drinking addiction? Save these last three bottles for giving away in the future."
"The pattern on this flask is the clearest and simplest. Use this design to imitate fake wine from now on. Don't mistake it again."
The handwriting on the notes was graceful and delicate, seemingly the work of that younger sister.
Judging from the outcome, another bottle of wine had been drunk. It seemed pasting notes was not very useful either.
But from what they said, they relied on these flasks to imitate fake wine. So the remaining two bottles should contain real wine?
"Gulp, gulp, gulp!"
Xiao Chen downed an entire bottle in one go, then licked his lips. "Whether it's real or not, I'll know with one taste."
But strangely, the Moon Reflecting Wine was sweet upon entering his mouth, without the slightest bite. After drinking an entire flask, he felt no change at all.
"It's already been a quarter of an hour. Why is there no reaction? Huh, why is there a moon in my room?"
A bright full moon hung high overhead. It looked like, like a... Glowing Mooncake!
But Xiao Chen was indoors right now, so it was obvious. "Why is my roof gone?"
Xiao Chen felt as though he had become very light. Beneath the moonlight, his entire body seemed to float upward, higher than the clouds.
He saw moonlight spread over the wilderness like fine gauze, dyeing everything with a dreamlike silver radiance; he saw a Clear Spring gush forth, glittering with specks of light, beautiful beyond words; he saw the wind blow, sending ripples across the water. And within the spring, a full moon rose as well, larger and brighter than the one in the sky.
Suddenly, the sun rose, dazzlingly bright.
Xiao Chen immediately felt himself plummeting from the clouds.
He struggled violently and found himself sitting up from the ground.
There was no moon, no spring, no clouds. He was still in the little house on Azure Water Peak.
Morning sunlight slipped in through the crack in the window, telling him it was already the next morning.
"Why am I sleeping on the floor? Right, the Moon Reflecting Wine!"
Seeing the wine flask on the floor not far away, Xiao Chen suddenly remembered what had happened last night.
The Moon Reflecting Wine's effects were clearly much stronger. Without realizing it, he had gotten drunk and fallen asleep on the floor.
Despite sleeping off a drunken stupor, Xiao Chen did not feel the slightest discomfort. He had neither a headache nor dizziness.
On the contrary, he felt refreshed, better than ever.
Xiao Chen circulated his mana to dispel the lingering alcohol, only to discover in delight that an extra strand of mana had appeared in his Dantian.
"I broke through!"
