Background / History
Pangu opened heaven and earth from Chaos, separating pure and turbid energies and establishing the Primordial Wilderness. After supporting the heavens, Pangu transformed into the world’s mountains, rivers, and other features; the Great Dao then emerged to establish order and distribute creation merit. 1
In its early era, the Primordial Wilderness remained chaotic and incomplete. The Heavenly Dao had not awakened, the Great Dao governed the world directly, and time was difficult to measure. The world absorbed Chaos Energy and converted it into Innate Spiritual Energy, continuing to grow moment by moment. 2 52
The Ferocious Beast Tribulation devastated vast areas of the land. Beasts corrupted by the resentment of Chaos Gods and Demons polluted rivers, ruined forests, collapsed mountains, and spread destructive qi through the earth veins. 3 17 18 Following the tribulation, the world recovered, digested its gains, and entered a period of renewed growth marked by the birth of the Dragon, Phoenix, and Kirin ancestors. 100
The Earthly Dao was completed when the earth veins of the Hundred Thousand Great Mountains became connected to the wider world. Ancestral Veins throughout the territories erupted in response, with Mount Zhou and the Hundred Thousand Great Mountains displaying the strongest manifestations. 122 123
Later, the Heavenly Dao was born, stabilizing the laws of heaven and earth. The laws became more complete and interwoven, though also more difficult to comprehend. 221
Structure and Natural Order
- Chaos conversion — The world draws upon Chaos Energy and transforms it into Innate Spiritual Energy; Innate Spiritual Roots access this converted energy rather than independently sustaining themselves. 52
- Earth veins — Leylines and Ancestral Veins form a foundational network beneath the land. Their condition directly affects regional vitality, spiritual energy, and the Earthly Dao. 2 17 122
- Three Paths — Heaven, Earth, and Man are presented as interdependent paths necessary for the Primordial Wilderness’s ascent. The Human Path is associated with the changing nature of living beings, while Heaven and Earth follow comparatively fixed rules. 8 17
- World origin — The world’s strength is tied to Pangu’s Great Dao and to its karmic connection with the Chaos Gods and Demons, whose power served as nourishment during its formation. 84
- Heavenly Dao — Before its birth, the Great Dao managed the world in the same broad manner as Chaos, leaving calamities capable of threatening heaven and earth. The Heavenly Dao’s emergence gave the world a dedicated governing force. 221
Major Regions
| Region | Significance |
|---|---|
| Mount Zhou / Mount Buzhou | Foremost divine peak and a central locus of earth veins; its Ancestral Vein is among the strongest in the world. 19 122 |
| Wuyi Mountain | Zhou Jun and Di Kun’s Dao field; its remodeling draws surrounding terrain and veins toward it, strengthening local resonance and spiritual conditions. 50 |
| Hundred Thousand Great Mountains | Once heavily affected by ferocious-beast resentment; later restored through the Primordial Life Tree, Elves, and connection to the Ancestral Vein. 3 79 104 |
| Northern Territory | Origin point of the Ferocious Beast forces, which later established the Ferocious Beast Dynasty and expanded across the continent. 3 18 |
| Western Continent | A region repeatedly threatened by destructive forces, including later conflict with Abyssal creatures. 4 161 |
| Abyss | A reverse side of the Primordial Wilderness, connected to it through the Three Paths but carrying the will and influence of Chaos Gods and Demons. 79 142 |
Relationship with the Abyss
The Abyss was opened in a location sealed by the Primordial Wilderness and initially retained only a limited connection to it. Its acceptance of the Ferocious Beast race and the integration of Chaos Gods and Demons made it inherently opposed to Pangu’s world. 79 131
Despite this opposition, the Abyss remained under the Primordial World’s jurisdiction after its gestation. The Heavenly Dao and Earthly Dao moved to control it, while its core remained in Shen Yuan’s hands and other authority was divided among the Three Paths and Chaos God-and-Demon reincarnations. 84 142
- If the Abyss severs its karmic thread with the Primordial Wilderness, it could become an independent world and deprive the Primordial Wilderness of Chaos God-and-Demon remains and origin needed for further advancement. 131
- The Abyss and the Primordial Wilderness are described as Yin and Yang counterparts. 142
- The Sea of Blood prevents the two realms from fusing. 79
Development of Living Beings
The Primordial Wilderness’ development is shaped by its living beings. Innate races embody aspects of the world’s laws, while their cultivation, Dao discussions, battles, and creation of divine abilities help refine and apply those laws. 3
After the Ferocious Beast Tribulation, the world’s increased Creation Qi enabled numerous Innate Sacred Beings to emerge earlier than expected. 120 The completion of the Earthly Dao further accelerated prosperity: beings shared techniques through the Trading Space, explored distant regions, and developed without immediate large-scale conflict. 120
The Hundred Thousand Great Mountains became a major center of civilization and resource integration. Under the Elf race and the Civilization Stone Tablet, professions such as spirit planting, alchemy, and artifact refinement developed there before spreading through the Trading Space. 104 125
Goal and Threats
The Primordial Wilderness is understood by several characters to be pursuing advancement toward an Eternal Realm. Its success is linked to the coordinated growth of the Three Paths, the stability of heaven and earth, and the resolution of karmic ties with the Chaos Gods and Demons. 8 131
- Ferocious Beasts — Sought to destroy the world and restore Chaos under Shen Ni’s leadership. 18
- Chaos Gods and Demons — Their lingering resentment, reincarnations, and karmic claims threaten the world’s autonomy and development. 84 142
- Abyssal expansion — The Abyss can consume the Primordial Wilderness’s origin if it becomes independent or successfully counterattacks. 131
- Calamity Qi — Accumulates as living beings cultivate and comprehend the Dao, contributing to future tribulations. 120
- Fragmentation — Excessive separation into isolated Dao fields or realms could divide the Primordial Wilderness and hinder its overall development. 82
