Malfoy had been in a foul mood lately, all because of an encounter with another Young Wizard a month ago.
They had not gotten along pleasantly.
Merlin's underpants, that Young Wizard was far too strange. Was he really a first-year student, not some Dark Wizard who had just graduated from Azkaban?
I only wanted to shove him, but he actually wanted to kill me!
Ever since that meeting, Malfoy had been plagued by nightmares, all about what had happened that day.
He often touched his cheek, as though the vicious wound there had never healed.
He often saw hallucinations of golden light and could vaguely still feel the bone-chilling sharpness of that golden blade.
Damn it, what kind of magic was that?
Appearing behind him in an instant could still be explained by the Apparition Charm, but even his father, Old Malfoy, had never heard of that golden sword of light.
It seemed to be lost ancient magic!
Before school began, his father had warned him not to provoke that Young Wizard if he saw him again.
If possible, he was to apologize to him, show goodwill, and become friends with him.
After all, a wizard who knew ancient magic was definitely no simple person!
Oh, Merlin's shoes, Malfoy felt he could never complete the task his father had given him.
Now, just thinking of that Young Wizard's face made him tremble all over, let alone taking the initiative to speak to him.
Poor Malfoy only wanted to stay as far away from that Young Wizard as possible.
And now, Malfoy had to complete another task his father had assigned: befriend the Savior, Harry Potter.
He felt this task would certainly be easy. No one could refuse the goodwill of the noble and ancient Malfoy family!
Not even the Savior!
Thus, he sauntered up to a compartment. He had heard some Young Wizards in this compartment cry out Harry Potter's name just moments ago.
If nothing unexpected had happened, Harry Potter should be in this compartment.
Malfoy arrogantly ordered his two lackeys to open the compartment door, then looked down into the room.
A messy-haired Little Witch. He did not know her; she was probably a half-blood or a Mudblood.
A redhead, dressed in such shabby old robes. So he was a child of the Weasley family, the disgrace of pure-bloods.
He turned his gaze to the last Young Wizard, then suddenly froze. A familiar, delicate face appeared before him, and endless terror engulfed him.
Any adult wizard would call that face handsome and adorable, but to Malfoy, it had become the nightmare that haunted him these days.
He would never forget that face. It belonged to the Young Wizard who had filled him with endless terror!
While Malfoy sized up Harry and the other two, the three of them were also looking him over.
Hermione looked at the three Young Wizards at the door. Though the one in front was only eleven, he had slicked his pale blond hair back with a huge amount of hair gel into a neat pompadour.
He looked very proud, as though he were looking down on them from above, yet there was not the slightest sense of pressure.
Hermione felt he was a child pretending to be grown-up. She had seen plenty of classmates like that at Muggle school.
Behind him stood two more Young Wizards, one short and fat, the other tall and fat. They looked like a big and small winter melon standing there, especially ugly.
They were probably the blond Young Wizard's bodyguards.
When the blond Young Wizard at the front suddenly froze, Hermione was the first to ask:
"Hello. Is there something you need?"
Goyle considered himself smarter than Crabbe and Malfoy's number-one lackey.
Seeing that Boss Malfoy was not speaking, and possessing the proper qualities of a good lackey, he immediately realized it was time to ease his boss's burden.
Goyle raised his head and clumsily imitated Malfoy's usual haughty manner.
"I'm Goyle, he's Crabbe, and as for this one, he's Malfoy, the noble Draco Malfoy! We heard Harry Potter is in this compartment. Malfoy wants to meet him and become good friends."
"Ahem..." Ron gave a soft cough from the side, trying not to laugh.
Goyle's performance was far funnier than Malfoy's.
He immediately drew Goyle's attention.
"You think our names are funny? Look at that red hair and face full of freckles. No need to guess who you are—the poor Weasley from that freakish wizarding family with so many children they can't afford to raise them."
"You!" Ron wanted to retort, but Goyle's attention was no longer on him.
Goyle turned to Harry.
"Harry, you'll soon discover that some pure-blood families are nobler than others. Among them, the ancient and noble Malfoy family stands above the rest. I'm sure you would be happy to be friends with Malfoy rather than a poor wretch and a Mudblood!"
With everyone's attention on him, Harry looked at Malfoy, who was trembling with cold sweat pouring down his face, and smiled faintly.
"Oh? Is that so? Does Malfoy think so too? About Mudbloods and such?"
"Of course..." Goyle wanted to say more, but Malfoy immediately cut him off with a loud shout.
"Enough, Goyle! They will all be our classmates from now on. We should get along well. Don't use words as malicious as Mudblood!"
Goyle stared at Malfoy in disbelief, feeling as though he had been abandoned.
Why was this happening?
Malfoy was clearly the one among them who hated Muggles the most!
At this moment, Malfoy had no thought of caring for his lackey's feelings. One sentence kept echoing through his mind.
I'm dead, I'm dead! Why is it this guy? He's Harry Potter?
Malfoy could not wait to leave, to get away from that demon's sight. He tried his best to appear calm.
"My apologies, everyone. I apologize to you on Goyle's behalf."
He did not dare look at Harry's faintly amused smile and instead focused more on Hermione, who had been insulted as a Mudblood.
"My apologies. We absolutely do not discriminate against Muggles. The Wizarding World welcomes Young Wizards from Muggle families!"
Having said that, Malfoy hurriedly grabbed his two lackeys, carefully shut the compartment door, and quickly left.
Hermione and Ron were left somewhat at a loss.
Hermione, however, did not know what Mudblood meant, and since Malfoy had apologized in time, she did not have a bad impression of the three of them.
Especially Malfoy. He should be a very gentle and kind Young Wizard.
"Ron, do you know them?" Hermione asked Ron. He was the only one among the three from a wizarding family.
He was the most likely to know about Malfoy and the others.
Ron said uncertainly, "I know Malfoy. Our family doesn't get along with theirs. We often have conflicts. The Malfoy family is an evil wizarding family. They're selfish, arrogant, sinister, and cunning. Old Malfoy was even one of those vile Death Eaters..."
The more Hermione listened, the more something felt wrong, and she could not help but argue, "But I think Malfoy was quite polite."
