Chapter Summaries

The Marines prepared to execute King Neptune at Marineford as Whitebeard and the Fish-Men arrived to rescue him. Whitebeard began the battle, then sat down after freezing the bay, and a gigantic figure appeared to face Akainu’s attack.

• Sengoku prepared Marineford’s forces and broadcast Neptune’s execution while the Revolutionary Army waited in Marie Geoise for Mr. Xia to establish the situation.
• Kid, Hawkins, Killer, and Urouge attacked the Red Hair Pirates’ territory, but Red-Hair and his crew stopped their cannon fire and prepared to fight.
• Whitebeard arrived at Marineford with his fleet as Sharktooh, Hody Jones, Ryuboshi, and two thousand Fish-Men joined the rescue force.
• Whitebeard cracked the air and sent enormous waves toward Marineford, but Aokiji froze them and then froze the bay during his clash with Whitebeard.
• Whitebeard sat down to drink wine after declaring the mission complete, and a gigantic figure appeared to block Akainu’s Great Eruption and challenge him.

Xia Qiu returned to the battlefield in his colossal Giant Beast form and demanded that the Marines release King Neptune. The Fleet Admiral, three Admirals, Garp, Hawkeye, and Momousagi attacked him together, but their blows left him unharmed as he prepared to counterattack.

• Xia Qiu appeared alive on the battlefield, and people around the world recognized him as the president of Baroque Works.
• Xia Qiu demanded that Akainu release King Neptune, but Akainu refused and tried to attack him.
• Akainu, Aokiji, Kizaru, and Sengoku joined forces to stop Xia Qiu, while their clash injured nearby Marines.
• Sengoku, Garp, the three Admirals, Momousagi, and Hawkeye launched a combined assault on Xia Qiu.

Xia Qiu defeated the Marine leaders at Marine Headquarters, rescued Neptune for Whitebeard, and demanded the Marines submit to him. After learning they feared the Celestial Dragons’ hidden power, he headed for Mary Geoise to kill them, while the Marines and Whitebeard Pirates followed, hoping to strike down whoever survived.

• Xia Qiu’s Conqueror’s Roar and tentacles overwhelmed the Marines’ forces, and he killed Akainu before smashing Marine Headquarters in a clash with Garp and Sengoku.
• Xia Qiu landed aboard Whitebeard’s ship and returned the unconscious Neptune, fulfilling his agreement with Whitebeard.

Dragon entered the hall where the gathered kings were waiting while Sabo, Ace, Law, and the others held off the soldiers outside. At the Red Line, Xia Qiu defeated the forces guarding the entrance and faced an enormous figure that he recognized as the Celestial Dragons’ National Treasure.

• Dragon used Conqueror’s Haki to knock out the soldiers guarding the conference hall, then entered to speak with the kings.
• Sabo, Ace, Law, and their allies attacked the soldiers surrounding them, using their powers to block the way forward.

Xia Qiu learned that the Celestial Dragons’ protector was the Heavenly King, a living dragon bound by an eight-hundred-year-old promise, and refused to leave. As the Marines and Whitebeard’s crew watched and considered waiting for the combatants to weaken each other, the dragon attacked Xia Qiu and he charged through its flames.

• The giant dragon told Xia Qiu it had protected the Celestial Dragons for eight hundred years after they rescued it from the D Clan, and identified itself as the Heavenly King.
• Xia Qiu realized the dragon was the living weapon behind the Celestial Dragons’ rule, while Whitebeard recalled that Roger had warned him about it.
• Sengoku explained to Momousagi, the Empress, and the other Marines that the dragon could kill them easily, so they planned to wait for the battle to weaken both sides.
• Sengoku urged the Marines not to fight Whitebeard’s forces yet, while Tsuru and Garp discussed striking after the two sides had suffered losses.

• Xia Qiu failed to get past the Fire Dragon, while Whitebeard and Marco watched their battle and Sengoku prepared a group to intervene.

At Laugh Tale, Shirahoshi refused Xia Qiu’s proposal because she realized he loved Robin, and Robin told him to court her properly before revealing that her Devil Fruit had awakened.

• Lucci, Kaku, and Kalifa fought Xia Qiu at Enies Lobby, then Lucci ordered the judges to give the pirates the highest bounty.
