Ang coughed lightly, feeling somewhat helpless. "I have one more question I'd like to ask." He glanced at Shaven and Lufiel, his tone slightly restrained.

"Count Ang, please ask away." Shaven smiled faintly, seeming completely unconcerned by Ang's doubts.

"I just wanted to ask, are there many noble princesses?" Ang asked awkwardly. Clearly, this was not what concerned him most, but he still felt it was worth knowing.

"From the perspective of us merfolk, the number of princesses is not particularly large." A sly glint flashed through Shaven's eyes. "But by human standards, perhaps there are rather a lot."

Ang froze at once.

That answer left him completely baffled, and his heart tightened as he felt he might be losing control a little.

Could the merfolk truly have an enormous number of noble princesses?

He could not help beginning to regret it. He should have learned about these things beforehand.

To change the subject, Ang simply asked about something else. "What is the deal with the merman race among your merfolk?"

He had only been curious, but he had not expected the question to make both Shaven and Lufiel respond seriously.

"Most of the mermen on the Archipelago Plane have been subdued by us. Some of the rest were sent to the Endless Sea to take part in the war against the Sea Monster Race." Shaven's tone carried a trace of indifference, as though she had long grown accustomed to all this.
