Early the next morning, the Lizardmen launched another attack.

Unlike before, they had clearly learned their lesson.

This time, instead of rushing forward in a swarm, the Lizardmen split into small squads and approached silently.

Although the Cavalry Regiment was deployed, it was of little use.

The mountainous terrain was unfriendly to cavalry, and the scattered squads greatly reduced the effectiveness of their charges.

"This is only temporary." An officer watched the Lizardmen's dispersed formation and quietly said to Slock, "Last night, I received intelligence from the unit monitoring the Lizardmen's movements. Their numbers are still increasing. Once their numbers reach a certain scale, their offensive will surely be as fierce as it was the first time."

Though Slock was filled with regret, he could only silently accept the situation before him.

He knew the Lizardmen would not be easy to deal with, and this war would be a long confrontation.

That day, after suffering around two thousand casualties, the Lizardmen retreated unwillingly.

Over the next three days, the Lizardmen continued using similar tactics. Each day, they sent only a small portion of their forces to attack instead of launching the fierce assaults they had used at the beginning.

Though casualties in every clash were not severe, they were enough to wear down Ang's soldiers' stamina and morale.

Finally, on the morning of the fourth day, an officer could not help suggesting, "My lord, the Lizardmen have been doing this for four days. Shouldn't we take the initiative and try to seize the advantage?"

Ang pondered for a moment, then gently shook his head. "How many of our soldiers have yet to fight the Lizardmen?"

"My lord, as of today, our one hundred thirty thousand infantrymen have not yet directly confronted the Lizardmen," the commander reported.

Ang's gaze was firm.
