Kushina froze for a moment.
"The village?"
At only six years old, she had yet to seriously think about something like a village.
But for Kushina, though she had known Mito for only a few days, she had always regarded that almost excessively beautiful "big sister" as a mother.
Even though Mito was old enough to be her grandmother.
In terms of status, one had once been the princess of the Uzumaki Clan and had married Konoha's First Hokage.
The other was a war orphan from the Land of Whirlpools, who had nearly died amid the chaos of war.
The gap between them was worlds apart. There was no comparison to be made.
Kushina had always lacked a sense of security. Otherwise, she would not have kept a kunai hidden beneath her pillow.
Having survived in the war-torn Land of Whirlpools, Uzumaki Kushina was more mature than most children her age.
So, from Konoha's attitude, she had vaguely realized that Konoha needed her to do something.
But it was Uzumaki Mito who had brought her from the war-torn Land of Whirlpools to Konoha Village, giving her a place to live, food, and all kinds of education.
Most importantly, Kushina had felt a different kind of affection and warmth in Mito's gentle eyes.
So Kushina had always wanted to repay Mito.
But feelings were feelings. She could not close her eyes and claim that Konoha Village was wonderful.
Konoha might be nice, but it was not her hometown.
Mito's words reminded her of everything that had happened since she came to Konoha.
For instance, the cold looks from the ninja who had brought her here. The voices of children her age mocking her academic performance. Or the classmates who laughed at her red hair.
Though she had indeed beaten them up
