On a map, the Land of Iron lay directly north of the Land of Fire, a coastal nation.

More precisely, it was wedged between the Land of Waterfall and the Land of Rice Fields. It shared only a narrow stretch of border with the Land of Fire and had no direct contact with any other major nation.

This geographical environment effectively ensured that it would not become a battlefield for the Five Great Nations.

As a small country, the Land of Iron also did an excellent job preserving its traditional culture.

There were no ninja forces within its borders, only samurai from the old era. Though they were called samurai, they could actually wield the power known as Chakra.

With just a slight change in terminology, they became completely unrelated to ninja.

Its unique national circumstances, unique culture, and distinctive geographical environment... these three factors were the main reasons why the Land of Iron had been able to stay out of every Ninja World War.

Of course, staying out of it did not mean truly staying out of it.

To avoid being abandoned by the times and to maintain its title as a neutral nation, the Land of Iron had taken the initiative to host the Five Kage Summit and provide security.

It could be said that through this sort of diplomacy, it had maintained good relations with all Five Great Nations.

The Land of Iron's special status had not gone unnoticed by other small countries.

Why could it remain neutral? Why could it maintain friendly and mutually supportive relations with the Five Great Nations?
