For an individual, what exactly was the self?
The self?
Consciousness?
Knowledge?
Memories?
To the powerhouses of other factions, all of these together formed an individual.
But to those on the Tech Side, that was not accurate.
As early as several million years ago, scientists had proposed uploading their memories to a terminal, becoming pure energy lifeforms and thereby attaining Eternal Life.
Then a question arose: if memories were downloaded from a terminal and implanted into an individual, was that individual still the original you?
If those memories were uploaded into two bodies,
could those two people truly be called the same person?
Memories downloaded from a terminal were like knowledge. Even if they possessed identical "knowledge," those who received the memories had already become different individuals, with no connection to one another.
After generations of theoretical refinement, memories were nothing more than something like storage cards to them.
As for privacy?
If you had uploaded your memories to a terminal, why would you still care about privacy?
What the contract retained was the True Name, tied to the individual.
Klaus had truly died. Even everything connected to Klaus had been thoroughly dealt with.
The current Kewu Lie had merely taken the storage card. He was another independent individual who had read the memories and information within it; the contract could not bind him.
There was not the slightest connection between the two individuals, Klaus and Kewu Lie.
Thus, even the Devil race was reluctant to sign contracts with the Tech Side.
The Tech Side had an even lower bottom line than devils!
But the Plague Elves did not know this, or rather, they were not strong enough to come into contact with such matters.
