Chen Yi convinced Obito Uchiha that he wanted to join the Dawn Organization to destroy Konoha, and Obito took him to Nagato and Konan. Chen Yi agreed to help restore Nagato’s body in exchange for a binding promise to destroy Konoha, and Nagato and Obito signed his contract.

• Chen Yi broke Obito Uchiha’s barrier with Fire Dragon and used a purported Reverse Spirit Summoning Technique to make Obito return to the space.
• Chen Yi said he wanted to join the Dawn Organization to destroy Konoha, and Obito invited him to meet its true leader.
• Obito brought Chen Yi to Nagato and Konan, who questioned whether Chen Yi could be trusted.

• Nagato and the others shattered Konoha’s barrier and entered the village, where Jiraiya and Danzō confronted them.

• Chen Yi told the other Kage that Konoha was his only target and ordered them to remain in the building.

Chen Yi fought Danzō at the Kage Summit while Nagato ordered the Dawn Organization members to return, claiming the missing Tailed Beasts had been found. Danzō’s repeated survival and Obito Uchiha’s death exposed him as the true anomaly, though Black Zetsu could not discover who had taken Obito’s Sharingan.
