Don't fight Batman, what about Spider-Man?

The members of the detective agency gathered together and recorded a "thank you video" for Spider-Man on their phones. After uploading the video, they chatted for a while longer before leaving. Of course, Peter Parker didn't go home – he slipped into the empty chemistry lab like a nimble cat, silent and unseen.

"If J. Jonah Jameson knew about this," Peter thought wryly as he rummaged through reagent bottles, "he'd go absolutely wild – Spider-Man's first official crime. But then again, Peter Parker is the one doing this, what does it have to do with Spider-Man? Luckily, there are no cameras in the classroom. Let's see, I can probably mix up three batches of web fluid. Hope it's enough. I also hope this can all be over tonight – who knows when Herman's boxing gloves will explode."

In less than twenty minutes, three bottles of pearlescent web fluid were stuffed into his jacket pockets. He then opened the door, looked around, confirmed no one had noticed, and left the school.

Peter didn't notice that Carl King, still around from football practice, was nearby. He happened to see Peter leaving from down the hall and felt curious: what was the skinny Parker still doing at school so late?

Was he tinkering with something? Could I use this to mess with him? Get some face back for myself?

He curiously slipped into the lab and searched for a long time for what Parker had been doing, but found nothing. So he sniffed hard and found the workbench that smelled of chemicals.

"What was he doing here?"

Carl King curiously opened the filter cover of the sink and found something white stuck to it. Was Peter Parker working on this?

He curiously tried to pull off a piece but found that nothing came off, so he cursed. He noted this down and also left the chemistry lab – he didn't know the webbing would degrade automatically within two hours, and by the time he returned tomorrow, it would be gone.

Meanwhile, Peter, who had already left, was on the phone with Uncle Ben while changing.

"Hello? Uncle Ben, I'm going to be home late tonight? Just tell Aunt May that her worried nephew went to see some excitement. What excitement? Just watch the Daily Bugle on TV!"

An unprecedented sense of excitement surged through him like an electric current. Spider-Man swung through the Manhattan twilight, then to the next target. He needed a battlefield, and to ensure safety and avoid interference, he needed to block off roads. While he could find Captain Stacy, Captain Stacy didn't have the authority to seal off an entire war zone. The Avengers, however, did.

He swung all the way to Avengers Tower, landing skillfully on the helipad of the tower, and then walked inside.

"Halt, soldier. You're entering a restricted area if you go any further."

Steve Rogers, wearing a short-sleeved shirt and holding a cup of coffee, walked out. Peter had to explain to him, "I have a kind of... danger sense, Captain. If I step into a dangerous area, I'll know."

"That's no reason for you to take risks, kid. What do you need?"

"I've found a way to lure Scarecrow out, but there are only two problems. First, I need to block off a section of road. I can't find anyone with enough authority to do that, so I thought maybe the Avengers could help."

"That's not a difficult task. What's the second problem? You can tell us, and the Avengers will handle the rest."

"That's the second problem, Captain. The Avengers cannot be involved."

Peter stated his request: "Last time Herman couldn't beat me and fled in disarray. This is how I'll draw him out: give him a fair battlefield, make him willing to come here and fight me to the death. If the Avengers intervene, he'll very likely just run away."

The Captain expressed his objection in one sentence: "So you want us to place all our hope on you defeating Scarecrow, and that his weapons won't explode in the process?"

"I'm not proposing this plan because I think I'll fail and need a bailout, Captain. I'm proposing this plan because... I just feel like I can do it."

Peter took off his mask and looked at Rogers. Rogers looked at him, then sighed and took out his phone.

"You win, kid. I know a friend who will help you."

Peter used his enhanced vision to steal a glance at the annotation "Nick Fury" flashing on the screen, smiled, said thank you, put his mask back on, and prepared to leave.

Of course, the Captain had a new question.

"Uh, kid, where do you want to seal off?"

"Times Square! Captain!"

Watching Spider-Man swing away, the Captain nodded and made a call: "Alright, Nick, I need you to help me seal off Times Square. I'm not crazy..."

Only by setting a meeting with Herman in a sufficiently significant location would Mr. Scarecrow be more likely to agree to a showdown. Times Square was the best choice. Peter arrived there, took out his old camera, and swung between buildings, searching for the best shooting angles. When the fight began, he would stick the camera here and set it to auto-record, hoping to get some photos he could sell to Jameson.

If only someone before my transmigration could have told me how American high school students get rich quickly besides odd jobs and crime. Now I can only take pictures of myself like the real Peter Parker... When I have money, I'll definitely get my own high-tech base like Peter Parker in the Spider-Verse, filled with all sorts of suits, or at least add a display function to my suit's goggles.

He really didn't know how to make money. If only he had transmigrated as Harry Osborn. Now all he could do was wait for the World Cup in Brazil and advise Uncle Ben to bet everything on Brazil winning 7-1 – that was the event that impressed him the most, something he couldn't forget even after transmigrating.

"Alright, it's time for the Daily Bugle's live broadcast at 6 PM every afternoon. Next stop, the Daily Bugle building! It's time to meet my dear number one fan for the first time!"

In the Daily Bugle's media building, J. Jonah Jameson was reviewing another news draft he had written for the day, another day of railing against those damn masked monsters. He took a sip of water, cleared his throat, and suddenly his old friend Robbie burst into the broadcast room.

"Jonah, something big has happened."

"What could be so big, Robbie—"

"Spider-Man is here!"

J. Jonah Jameson's expression froze for a moment, then he immediately reacted: "Good! That insufferable spider-crawler has finally found his way here! As long as I, Jameson, draw breath, I will never let this freak ruin freedom of the press!"

"He's not here to ruin freedom of the press, Jameson," Robbie cut off Jameson's rant. "He said he has exclusive news for us."

Jameson's expression instantly solidified.

"Welcome to today's Daily Bugle News. Before we begin with the official news, we received a special recording." A few minutes later, in the broadcast room, Jameson looked as disgusted as if he had eaten fly droppings. If Spider-Man hadn't told him that Scarecrow's weapons could explode at any moment, he wouldn't have bothered with that freakish spider.

"Hey, Scarecrow, it's me, Spider-Man. Remember?"

It was a selfie video clearly taken with a phone, with Spider-Man's face clearly visible close to the edge of the lens: "I still remember how I beat you up that day, and you had to threaten me with the safety of ordinary people to make me run away. What's up? Been hiding for the past few days?"

"I was beaten up?" Herman, hiding in his hideout, was furious. "I almost killed you that day, you damn crawler!"

He decided not to pay attention to the damn crawler, no matter what he said, he wouldn't go out.

"I know you might be scared, you're worried you can't beat me, or maybe your weapons aren't as powerful as you advertise – or maybe you're just afraid of the Avengers? If that's the case, don't worry, I've handled it all. Tonight after 8 PM, it's just you and me, we'll settle this in Times Square. No Avengers, no police, but all of New York's media will be watching. I'll show the whole world that your weapons are nothing, Scarecrow."

My weapons are nothing?!

Herman was so angry he directly opened his closet, took out his uniform, and then carefully considered whether doing so was unwise.

"—That's all of New York's media, Herman. And if that bug isn't lying, it's just him."

Herman, after careful consideration, began to undress and put on his uniform.

There was no better opportunity. All of New York's media would remember that Scarecrow had defeated Spider-Man!

I'm already in the top thirty of my division without even hitting the trending list. Thank you all for your likes.
