Mangog Battles Asgard

Mangog was the embodiment of the resentment of a civilization even Odin had forgotten.

Now, with the Three Fates pulling the strings and Malekith's preparations, he had escaped his confinement and launched an attack on Asgard, carrying the rage and hatred of hundreds of thousands of years.

Asgard's ordinary soldiers were the first to charge, but they were no match for Mangog. He sent them flying with a single exchange.

Next came Heimdall, stationed at the Bifrost. Relying on his formidable perception, the brave warrior dodged one of Mangog's attacks.

Then Mangog kicked him flying.

At the same time, Mangog noticed Odin's appearance. With a roar, he leaped dozens of kilometers toward Odin. Odin did not indulge him, firing Gungnir and blasting Mangog away. The massive shockwave carved a huge chasm across Asgard's surface.

Odin raised a hand and recalled Gungnir. Loki, standing nearby, nervously asked, "What should I do?"

"Shatter our fate, my son. Do whatever you must."

As he spoke, Odin leaped down from the temple and instantly flew before Mangog. He knocked down Mangog, who was rising to his feet, with a thrust of his spear, then aimed Gungnir's tip at Mangog's face as it erupted with brilliant light.

Yet the unleashed energy did not vaporize the monster's head as many Asgardians had expected. Mangog's head was driven heavily into the ground by the relentless barrage, but that did not mean he had lost. As Odin continued pouring out power, Mangog's three-fingered hand seized his leg and hurled him aside.

Mangog climbed back up. He had already spotted his target. The moment the gold-armored All-Father rose, Mangog roared and charged at him.

"Odin!"

"I'm right here, you Beast!"
