Before nightfall, Rikers Island Prison.
A guard carried a steak into Kingpin's cell. After knocking respectfully, he opened the door and placed the steak on Kingpin's table. Kingpin had been reading. Noticing that the guard had yet to leave, he closed his book. "Is there something else?"
"Your lawyer is here to see you, Mr. Fisk."
My lawyer is here to see me.
Hearing that, Fisk could not help but laugh. He sat at the table and picked up his knife and fork. "Have him wait a while. Until I... finish eating."
A few minutes later, Fisk arrived at the visiting room and saw Matt Murdock waiting there. He motioned for the guards to leave. After listening to it all, Matt could not help but laugh. "Looks like you've been living quite comfortably in here, Fisk."
"Yes. As long as... I'm still human, and my crimes are merely financial ones, I won't have to be locked up with your spandex-wearing friends, Devil."
Matt frowned, but he had not come to argue with Fisk today. After a moment of silence, he asked instead, "Lester attacked my friends earlier."
"Did he? No one got hurt, did they?"
"Looks like you can't control him?"
"Do you think I can control him?"
The two fell silent for a while. Then Matt moved past the subject. "If you still intend to eliminate the Hand, tonight is a good opportunity. I can draw out the Hand's people, especially their officers, and wipe them all out in one fell swoop."
"That sounds wonderful. Congratulations, Devil. You've defeated yet another enemy."
Matt sighed irritably at those words and stood up at once. "You know what I came here for, Fisk!"
