What hung down from the sky was Chthon's "essence," a part of the demon god himself. Since his will had yet to enter this world, that portion of essence could take the form of an avatar, but had not done so.

Even so, the tremendous power contained within it was absolutely beyond the ability of anyone present to resist.

Every survivor of the Elder God War possessed terrifying strength that surpassed ordinary beings. Unlike most dimensional demon gods such as Belasco and Dormammu, they had not found a dimension, occupied it, or even merged with it.

Gaia, Oshtur, Chthon, Set—being Elder Gods was an identity that ranked even above being dimensional demon gods. Their own might was enough to create dimensions of their own; they themselves were abstract entities.

And so, the instant Chthon's essence slowly descended like liquid tar—

The sky went dark.

The sky, once as bright as molten lava, fell into absolute darkness in an instant. Every trace of light vanished. Peter could see nothing, so he tried releasing bioelectricity for illumination.

Gravity reversed, and all of Hell's Border pressed toward the sky. The immense mass then converged around that descending drop of essence.
