Lately, aside from searching for the answer to whether he was addicted to violence, Matt's main work had been handling Elektra's defense. He truly found himself caught in a dilemma. On one hand, he wanted Elektra acquitted; on the other, if he defended Elektra successfully, he would have to accept the same acquittal for Ms. Bullseye and Typhoid Mary.
"But the problem is, Elektra really is innocent. She was originally a member of The Chaste, so I know she definitely wasn't an accomplice of The Hand. At the time, she had no conscious will of her own. But the other two are different. One is a Bullseye copycat, and the other is worse—she's outright a former villain. You can't lump them all together."
By the time Peter arrived at the law office, Matt was discussing Elektra's case with his partner and brother, Foggy Nelson. Foggy looked a little chubby as he analyzed the issue with Matt. "But the problem is, we can't separate them, and at least the jury won't agree. Unless you can use personal connections to get Captain America onto the jury. Do you know him well?"
Matt shook his head helplessly. Just then, Peter knocked on the door. Foggy looked at Peter in confusion; he didn't know their firm had such a young client. But Matt stopped Foggy with a gesture. "He's Mr. Rand's guest. He's only borrowing our office for a meeting."
Foggy immediately indicated that he understood. Matt rose and led Peter into an empty room. A little later, Daniel arrived. Rarely, he was not wearing his superhero costume today. Instead, he opened the door in a suit.
Even so, he still recognized Peter.
"Hello, Spider-Man. I'm very glad to see you here."
