Jessica Drew stood on the roof of Midtown High School alongside Miguel, Spider-Man 2099. In a few dozen minutes, this place would be destroyed, and Jessica could take the opportunity to ask about this universe's Spider-Man origin.
"That depends on your perspective, Spider-Woman. If you believe this universe's Spider-Man still got his abilities from that mutated spider, then yes, it truly has nothing to do with magic. So the two waited. Following her usual habits, Jessica began browsing the records of Midtown High School in this world. It was strange, really. This universe's S.H.I.E.L.D. had been wiped out by Hydra's infiltration in 2014, yet her system could still operate normally and breach the school database.
"It seems this universe doesn't have me... At least, Midtown High doesn't have me, or Gwen... Why does this universe feel incomplete? Like it's missing a lot of people."
"That's normal. Some universes just don't have many people. We've even encountered a universe with only Daredevil and The Punisher as heroes. That world didn't have any superpowered people at all." As he spoke, Miguel crouched down to make sure he would not be spotted, then quietly warned her, "Our target is here."
