Peter was not particularly surprised that Mansion Prison had been placed inside Avengers Base. Ever since the Raft Prison breakout, security for supervillains had remained a constant problem. In the end, nearly everyone agreed that until a prison capable of guaranteeing absolute security could be invented, the most suitable option was to put the thing directly in the Avengers' home.
At least, that was what everyone else had decided, and the Avengers had no objections. It was better to bear the threat themselves, after all.
Of course, this sparked Tony's usual refrain again: "We need to recruit more people! Look, I've already arranged accommodations for a full three hundred Avengers. The monthly property fees are enormous. What's the point if nobody lives here?"
"Lastly, this is the area for resting, activities, and gathering. I honestly didn't know how to design it, so I just designed it like... a club, the way I imagined one."
Tony finally led Peter into the main building. The first floor looked like a museum, filled with trophies from various Avengers members, from the helmet of the original Iron Monger armor to more recent things, like fragments of Kang's warship.
The rooms farther in were all sorts of things. Just as Tony had said, rather than a more formal office area, this place looked more like some kind of lounge, with snacks, bookshelves, sofas, and the like everywhere.
After looking around, Peter turned to Tony. "So I'm the last one to come tour this place?"
"No, not at all. T'Challa hasn't seen it yet, actually. Everyone else has, though. Want to know what they said? Almost all of them said this place is way too empty, that it has no life to it, and that they don't plan to live here. My God..."
