When Peter walked into the Avengers Base recreation center with Mary Jane, Tony was discussing Avengers recruitment with Captain.
"What was the name of that pilot you mentioned?"
"Sam Wilson. He wasn't a pilot; he was a paratrooper. He's with the Veterans Support Committee now and lives in D.C. I met him when I went there."
Captain shook his head as he spoke. "I wouldn't recommend recruiting him. He's already retired and doesn't have any superpowers. All he can do is fly using a pair of mechanical wings, and his weapons are just two submachine guns..."
"You haven't even considered whether he'd be willing. You said it yourself—he may be the only person left who can still use that kind of flying device. And we happen to know the engineer who designed it. Adrian Toomes is in New York."
As she entered the recreation area and saw Tony drinking on the sofa and Captain sitting on the bar counter with one hand braced against it, Mary Jane suddenly felt her breathing quicken.
It was different from the Human Torch. Johnny was also a famous superhero, but he was so carefree that, from that perspective, he could even be called approachable. Iron Man Tony Stark, on the other hand, had a reputation for being arrogant and extremely hostile toward the media.
As for Captain America, everyone saw him as the ideal symbol of America, the true American spirit—though one completely at odds with the real United States. Standing before them, Mary Jane was visibly excited, so much so that she wanted to find a restroom and check her appearance again.
She even glanced at Peter as he adjusted the camera, then whispered, "How are you not nervous at all?!"
"Uh... I see the Fantastic Four whenever I go to my internship.
