It was a concealed safe belonging to the Modern Magecraft Department.
El-Melloi II knew that relying on his own magecraft locks would not be enough, so he had specifically prepared a safe.
Its lock was correspondingly formidable. Even other Lords would not be able to open it without thorough preparation.
"The safe was locked both physically and magically... Don't tell me, was it really Irena?"
The only person who could do something like this at a time like this without making the slightest commotion... really did seem to be Irena.
"No, no, no. I should trust my student more!" Lord El-Melloi II admonished himself again.

However, at this point, Lord El-Melloi II noticed something.

It looked like an invitation.
A bright red wax seal had been stamped onto paper as thin as a crystal sheet. The seal bore a wheel-and-eye motif.

"We respectfully invite you to attend our banquet and request the honor of your presence..."
And beneath that was the signature.
