Background / History

The Lin Family is a branch family connected to the Lin Clan. At the beginning of the story, its members live in Qingyang Town, where Lin Fan and Lin Dong are both clansmen; Lin Fan and Qing Tan are orphaned members who are ostracized alongside each other by relatives such as Lin Shan. 1

Lin Zhentian serves as the family head. His eldest daughter, Lin Xia, intervenes when Lin Hong uses Yuan Power during a spar with Lin Fan, demonstrating the family’s internal rules regarding martial contests. 3

The family’s Clan Competition becomes a turning point in its standing. Lin Fan defeats Lin Hong with a sleeve strike, and subsequently reveals strength sufficient to repel Lin Mang, a Heavenly Yuan Realm cultivator. Visiting forces begin regarding Lin Fan as Qingyang Town’s foremost young talent and predict that the family could become its leading power. 11 12 15

Following the destruction of Black Dragon Stronghold and the deaths of Lei Bao and Xie Qian, the Lin Family takes control of the Lei Family’s Ironwood Village. Lin Xiao and Lin Ken lead the takeover force, while Lin Fan’s discovery of a Yang Yuan Stone raises the prospect of a Yang Yuan Stone Vein beneath the village. 19 20

The family later relocates its center of activity to Ironwood Village. It faces an assault by the Bloodcloth Sect, prompting Lin Fan to return and establish an Illusion Array for its defense. Lin Ken attempts to deter the attackers by revealing Lin Fan’s connection to Master Yan. 26 30

Lin Fan’s subsequent destruction of the Blood Wolf Gang and Bloodcloth Sect elevates the Lin Family into a top faction in Flame City. Lin Zhentian’s breakthrough to the Lesser Essence Core Realm further strengthens its position and revives his ambition to return the family to the Lin Clan. 35 36

Qingyang Town Clan Competition

The Lin Family hosts a Clan Competition attended by other Qingyang Town forces. Lin Fan enters after Lin Hong provokes him, defeats Lin Hong, and becomes central to the family’s growing public prestige. 11 12

Ironwood Village Expansion

After Black Dragon Stronghold’s fall, the family sends a mounted force to assume control of Ironwood Village from the Lei Family. The expedition uncovers the ruined ironwood fields, defeats Black Iron Demon Panthers, and finds a Yang Yuan Stone. 20

Bloodcloth Sect Conflict

The Bloodcloth Sect attacks Ironwood Village in search of the Lin Family. Lin Fan’s defense, followed by his killing of Wei Tong, Gu Ying, and the sect’s fleeing members, ends the immediate threat and contributes to the family’s rise in Flame City. 30 32 35

Return to the Lin Clan

The Lin Clan’s inner members initially look down on the branch family and provoke Lin Fan. After he cripples four of them and displays his Spirit Talisman Master strength before Old Tao, the Lin Clan invites him to join its Ancient Tomb Mansion expedition. 53 54
