Ch. 461Second infusion of the Light of Life

Quill struggled to reconcile his companions’ suspicions about Ego with the goodwill and power Ego had shown him. After receiving a second infusion of the Light of Life, Quill gained a perfected physique, but his confusion deepened as he asked Gamora to dance.

  • Quill considered whether to trust Ego or talk to Leo, while Ego’s influence kept him from recognizing how muddled his thoughts had become.
  • Gamora confronted Quill about his strange behavior and asked what he thought of Mantis’s warning.
  • The Light of Life surged into Quill, reshaping his body and enhancing him to a level comparable to Ego’s body.
  • Quill came around with greater confusion in his eyes, took Gamora’s hand, and asked her to dance on the balcony.

Ch. 462Everyone

The Guardians prepared for a possible fight with Ego, and Chen Haoran encouraged Mantis to seize the moment when Ego’s consciousness returned to the planet to control him. Meanwhile, Ego used a song tied to Quill’s mother to persuade Quill to abandon Gamora, then revealed that Quill might share his immortality.

  • Gamora went to find Quill, while Leo, Jason, Nebula, and the others prepared to confront Ego.
  • Nebula asked whether Mantis could control Ego through the planet’s energy channels, and Howard suggested she might get a chance while Ego’s consciousness was merging with the planet.
  • Chen Haoran reassured Mantis that she could help their companions, and she resolved to try.
  • Howard returned to an empty room after the others left, then disappeared again to look for Chen Haoran.
  • Ego reminded Quill that “Brandy” had been one of his mother’s favorite songs and urged him to let Gamora go.
  • Ego told Quill that the Light of Life on the planet meant death would be a stranger to them.

Ch. 463Quill's Inner Demon

Ego revealed his plan to spread across the universe and drew Quill into a vision of total submission, while Leo stopped Gamora from interfering. Leo believed Quill could escape only by confronting the deepest attachment in his heart: his mother.

  • Ego showed Quill the worlds where he had planted life clones and declared that he intended to cover all life and make everything part of himself.
  • Ego told Quill that he needed a second Celestial and revealed that his other descendants had failed to connect to the Light of Life.
  • Quill struggled briefly against Ego's influence but became captivated by the vision, while Ego expected him to become a loyal companion.
  • Gamora tried to charge into the palace, but Leo stopped her and explained that Quill had to break free of Ego's illusion himself.
  • Leo told Gamora that Quill's deepest inner demon was his mother, whom he had loved most since childhood.

Ch. 464Quill, His Chest Pierced

Ego stopped Leo’s metal spheres and captured Quill after Quill impulsively tried to confront him. Ego pierced Quill’s chest, and Quill suddenly sensed the veins of Planet Ego and the locations of Ego’s clones across the universe.

  • Ego used energy tentacles and Destructive Lightning to slow and damage Leo’s metal spheres, then pulled Quill from beneath the rubble and attacked him.
  • Ship Two arrived, and Jason rescued Quill and brought him aboard, but Quill hurried to fight Ego despite Jason’s warning.
  • Ego’s tentacles attacked the ship and seized Quill, while Gamora and the others failed to reach him through the barrage.
  • Ego pierced Quill’s chest with a light-spike tentacle, and Quill sensed Planet Ego’s veins and Ego’s scattered clones.

Ch. 465Ego Thought He Had Found a Way to Victory

Leo restrained Ego with the Metal Spheres while Ego drained Quill’s energy, but Ego believed he had found a way to escape by melting the metal. Quill remained trapped and powerless, sensing how Ego controlled the planet’s energy as he hoped Leo would defeat him.

  • Ego used the energy he had drained from Quill to strengthen his Destructive Lightning and attack Leo, then rushed in to fight him at close range.
  • Leo’s Metal Spheres pinned Ego with metal filaments, but Ego melted them and broke free.
  • Leo shattered the Metal Spheres and crushed Ego inside their fragments until only his head remained exposed.
  • Ego claimed the metal would eventually run out and began melting the remaining fragments with the Light of Life, convinced he had found a way to defeat Leo.
  • Quill remained trapped inside the Mountain Body as Ego drained his energy, and he sensed how Ego controlled the Heart Core while wishing for Leo to save him.

Ch. 466The Unconvinced Ego

Leo’s golden dragons shattered Ego’s massive attack and split Ego apart, but Ego began regenerating while Quill was buried under falling debris. Ego recovered and counterattacked Leo with towering stone pillars and a collapsing mountain.

  • Quill burst from an underground passage and saw Leo summon two golden dragons that shattered the descending boulder and overwhelmed Ego’s energy tentacles.
  • A golden line appeared across Ego’s abdomen, and Leo’s attack blasted his body apart, leaving his head to regenerate along blue energy veins.
  • Quill used the Cosmic Machine to fly and shot at Ego’s exposed head, slowing his recovery.
  • Ego collapsed the hall’s ceiling onto Quill, burying him beneath the ruins and giving himself time to restore his body.
  • Ego sent three enormous stone pillars at Leo’s golden dragons, then formed the shattered palace into a mountain and pressed it down toward Leo.

Ch. 467Divine Dragon Shield

Leo halted Ego’s mountain attacks and his two golden dragons forced Ego into a stalemate. Ego’s destructive lightning battered the dragons, but their Divine Dragon Shields absorbed the attack, leaving neither side able to act freely.

  • Leo raised a hand and stopped the mountain bodies Ego had created, causing Ego to lose control of them.
  • Ego intensified his power and unleashed destructive lightning at the approaching golden dragons.
  • Ego’s lightning shattered the dragons’ first Golden Shield and charred their scales, forcing them to stop advancing.
  • The two golden dragons formed Divine Dragon Shields that calmed and absorbed Ego’s lightning.
  • Ego and the two golden dragons became locked in a midair stalemate.

Ch. 468The Whole Person Was Completely Stunned

Mantis’s touch brought Jason’s buried grief over his murdered wife and children back with devastating force, and she struggled to soothe him before Leo told her to put him to sleep. Afterward, Mantis was left shaken by Jason’s pain and began to question what she had accepted as normal on Planet Ego.

  • Mantis told Jason that her touch could calm sorrowful people and make stubborn people obedient.
  • Jason remembered his wife and daughters, killed by the Kree, and sank into overwhelming grief.
  • Mantis touched Jason and felt his anguish, but could barely ease it, so Leo told her to make him sleep.
  • Mantis tapped Jason’s head, and he immediately fell unconscious.
  • Mantis was stunned as Jason’s grief and hatred unsettled her understanding of Ego and the children he had killed.

Ch. 469The Boss Is 'Going to Lose'

Leo caught Ego’s enormous falling mountain, then pretended to struggle so Quill and the others would believe he was weakening. The onlookers grew terrified as they watched Leo appear unable to keep holding it.

  • Ego sent a mountain five kilometers wide crashing down toward Leo, who caught it with one hand.
  • Leo sensed that Quill was trapped underground but still alive, and realized Quill could learn to control half of the Light of Life.
  • Leo decided to awaken Quill and teach him to use that power while preparing to deal with Ego.
  • Leo bent his arms and knees and acted as if the mountain’s weight was overwhelming him.
  • Howard, Mantis, Jason, Gamora, and the others worried that Leo was losing strength, while Jason and Gamora reviewed footage that showed Leo had initially held the mountain with ease.

Ch. 470Stubborn Ego, Five Kilometer Giant

Quill and Leo fought Ego as he used the Light of Life to raise mountains and trap the Milan. Leo protected the ship and escaped through Ego’s stone body, but Ego then rose as a five-kilometer giant while another strange figure flew toward them.

  • Ego attacked Quill with a giant fist, sending him flying, then raised a mountain to strike at him.
  • Leo rescued the Milan from the rising mountain and shielded it with hundreds of Uru darts.
  • Rocket blasted re-formed stones inside Leo’s defensive field, weakening Ego’s Light of Life and allowing Leo to break the Milan out of the mountain.
  • Ego formed a face in the stone wall and threatened them, but a metal dart shattered it.
  • Leo emerged with the Milan, and Ego rose into a five-kilometer humanoid giant as Quill, Rocket, and Howard the Duck stared in shock.
  • Leo looked toward a strange figure flying rapidly toward them.

Ch. 471Source Body Unsealed

Leo explained that Quill could challenge Ego for control of the Light of Life’s Source Power while Ego slept, then began gathering power to help him. The chapter ended with Leo’s Source Body breaking free of its restraints and radiating overwhelming golden light as the Space Stone flared.

  • Mantis warned everyone that she could not maintain her hypnosis much longer, and Quill and the others joined the group.
  • Leo told Quill to drive Ego out of the core so Quill could claim the planet and gain the power to take revenge.
  • Quill described how he and Ego occupied separate territories within the Light of Life, and how disrupting its energy might wake Ego.
  • Leo concluded that the Source Power was meant to be controlled by two Celestials and urged Quill to take advantage of Ego’s sleep.
  • Leo released his Source Body’s restraints, drawing in energy as the Space Stone emitted intense blue light.

Ch. 472Quill's Desperate Resistance

Ego trapped Quill on his planet and began assimilating his energy after Leo escaped beyond Ego’s reach. As Quill struggled to survive, he remembered Yondu’s advice about controlling the Yaka Arrow with his heart.

  • Leo teleported eight hundred kilometers away, causing Ego to abandon his attempt to capture him and focus on Quill.
  • Ego slammed his giant palms down, and Quill hid underground but was injured by the resulting shockwave before the Light of Life healed him.
  • Quill formed a hundred-meter body and charged at Ego, but Ego caught him and embedded him in his chest.
  • Ego restrained Quill with stone walls and began assimilating his energy, leaving Quill struggling to escape as his power weakened.
  • Quill recalled asking Yondu how he controlled the Yaka Arrow, and Yondu had answered that he used his heart.

Ch. 473Quill's Mental Power

Leo revealed Ego’s vast Light of Life Barrier, while Red Whale weakened it by rubbing against it. As Quill prepared to attack Ego, Leo offered to use the Mind Stone to strengthen Quill’s Mental Power, and Nebula recalled that Thanos had experimented with that very purpose.

  • Leo struck the hidden Light of Life Barrier with a golden blade, revealing its immense size and defensive power.
  • Red Whale rubbed against the barrier, consuming energy and prompting energy meridians to channel more power into the weakened area.
  • Quill remained determined to kill Ego despite the formidable defenses, but Leo stopped him because his Mental Power was too inexperienced.
  • Mantis said she could hold on for thirty minutes and blamed Red Whale’s interference for shortening her limit.
  • Leo called Red Whale back and offered Quill the Mind Stone to enhance his Mental Power.
  • Nebula said Thanos had conducted experiments to strengthen Mental Power with the Mind Stone, though they had side effects.

Ch. 474Energy Infusion

Leo infused Quill with an enormous amount of energy, transforming his physique but failing to make Quill’s Sea of Life Origin strong enough to surpass Ego. Quill concluded that they would have to condense the energy gradually, though he could now endure longer and prevent Ego from using his power.

  • Leo used the Space Stone’s energy to infuse Quill, who absorbed it through his Heart Core and Sea of Origin.
  • Quill stopped Leo after nearly three minutes because his body could not take any more energy.
  • Quill’s body became taller and muscular, impressing Gamora, Nebula, Jason, and Rocket.
  • Quill checked his Sea of Life Origin and found it had grown but still could not surpass Ego.
  • Quill told Leo that gradual energy condensation was their only option and that he could now keep Ego from using his power for longer.

Ch. 475The Strange Quirk of the Mind Stone

Leo detected a strange energy entering him through the Mind Scepter and tried to resist it, while Gamora and Nebula speculated about the Scepter’s hidden danger. The chapter explained why Thanos had once valued the Mind Stone but later dismissed it, leaving him uneasy after Leo began collecting Infinity Stones.

  • Leo sensed an invisible energy flowing from the Mind Scepter into his body and hurled the Scepter into the ground.
  • Leo’s Source Body erupted in Golden Light as he appeared to resist the energy, alarming Jason, Gamora, and Nebula.
  • Nebula and Gamora wondered whether the Mind Scepter was dangerous and whether Thanos had known something was wrong with it.
  • The chapter revealed that Thanos had used the Mind Stone to build his power, then lost interest in it after becoming the universe’s strongest overlord.
  • Thanos had begun acting sooner after learning that Leo was quietly collecting Infinity Stones, though he had not expected anyone to uncover their locations and uses.

Ch. 476The Ability of the Mind Scepter

Leo tested the Mind Scepter’s abilities and its powerful energy blast struck Ego’s barrier, making Ego more conscious. As Mantis struggled to hold Ego down, Leo restored her strength and asked Gamora how to greatly increase Quill’s mental power.

  • Leo picked up the Mind Scepter, and Gamora and Nebula explained its mind-control powers, weapon transformations, and energy cannons.
  • Leo changed the scepter into a spear, then charged and fired a large energy blast at the barrier around Ego’s Heart Core.
  • The blast shook everyone nearby and strengthened Ego’s consciousness, leaving Mantis with less than ten minutes to hold him back.
  • Leo shielded Mantis, replenished her strength with Golden light, and learned that her mental power was nearly depleted.
  • Leo asked Gamora how Quill could greatly increase his mental power.

Ch. 477Ego Wants to Take on Two at Once?

Leo held off Ego’s powerful Light of Life beam while Quill struggled to counterattack from within Ego’s body. The stalemate continued as Ego drew strength from the planet, and Howard believed Leo had not yet used his full power.

  • Ego fired a powerful Light of Life beam at Leo, who blocked it with his Golden Shield and spatial energy.
  • Leo met Ego’s beam with golden eye beams, but the two attacks became locked in a stalemate.
  • Ego drew growing strength from the Heart Core and his planet form, while Leo maintained his defenses to protect Rocket, Gamora, and the others.
  • Quill began counterattacking Ego from within the Heart Core, slowly pushing back against Ego’s beam.
  • Jason and Rocket reassured Mantis, while Nebula pointed out Quill’s counterattack.
  • Howard noticed Red Whale smiling and said Leo had not yet used his full strength.

Ch. 478Ego's Source

Leo attacked Ego’s Heart Core, weakening its defenses with golden light and cutting into it with a Space Blade. Ego’s Source Power then overwhelmed Leo’s shield and clothing, but Leo’s body remained intact as golden light mingled with the energy.

  • Leo used golden light to turn part of Ego’s defensive barrier into metal, while his Dragon Blade and Golden Dragons attacked the Heart Core.
  • Leo formed a giant Space Blade and endured Ego’s beam of Light of Life behind a Golden Shield mixed with blue light.
  • Leo forced the Space Blade through the Heart Core’s defenses, inflicting a small wound and making Ego scream.
  • Ego sent Source Power surging through the wound and shattered Leo’s shield, but Leo’s body remained intact within the energy.

Ch. 479Ego's Surprise Attack, Leo Injured

Ego ambushed Leo with the Light of Life, blasting him through the rock and injuring him before Leo escaped and healed. Leo sent his allies away and charged back at Ego’s Heart Core, determined to win.

  • As Leo’s Space Prison dissipated, Ego struck him in the face with a concentrated beam of the Light of Life and drove him through the rock wall.
  • Leo escaped to Unit Two, where Golden Light healed the burns and cracks on his face.
  • Leo rescued Gamora and Mantis and brought them aboard Unit Two while his allies urged the group to withdraw.
  • Gamora returned Quill’s body to Leo, but Leo said Ego would not let Quill’s consciousness escape if he failed.
  • Nebula suggested the Mind Scepter could breach the Heart Core’s mental defenses, and Leo transported Unit Two and its passengers away.
  • After Ego retracted the Light of Life, Leo transformed into Golden Light and charged toward the Heart Core.

Ch. 480Leo Sets His Sights on the Light of Life

Leo absorbed the Light of Life, discovering that its high-grade energy could improve his Source Body but harmed him if he took in too much. As Leo continued absorbing the beam, Quill struggled to keep Ego from taking control of the Light of Life's source.

  • Leo reached toward the Light of Life, and a trace of it erupted around him, dissolving much of his clothes without harming his body.
  • Leo replaced his ruined clothes with Tricolor Void Gold and controlled the Light of Life as it spread across him.
  • Leo absorbed the five-meter beam over six minutes and sensed that more of the energy could raise his Source Body to eighty percent, though too much could injure him.
  • Ego watched Leo absorb the beam without attacking him or Unit Two.
  • Quill continued ramming Ego inside the Sea of Life, trying to stop him from taking control of the Light of Life's source and using it to devour planets.
