Ch. 21Na'er Awakens

Holy Spirit Douluo Ya Li used her Faith Power to help Xia Yi evolve his martial soul, but he refused her offer to become his disciple. She then awakened Na'er, who burst into tears when she saw her.

  • The chapter recounted how Ya Li's healing work and the Faith Power she received had helped her become a Title Douluo.
  • Ya Li poured Faith Power into Xia Yi, whose martial soul evolved as a second tail grew.
  • Xia Yi rejected Ya Li's offer to take him as her master, explaining that he did not want to become a support.
  • Ya Li asked Xia Yi to demonstrate his soul skills and then used her Prayer Angel to awaken Na'er.
  • Na'er saw Ya Li, called her Master's Wife, and began crying.

Ch. 22I Don't Believe It

Na'er reunited with Tang Wulin, but her fear of Xia Yi led her to cut off a finger to spare her brother before Xia Yi regenerated it. Shocked that a level-ten healing Soul Master had held his own against her, Na'er fled.

  • Na'er apologized to Tang Wulin for leaving secretly, then recoiled when Xia Yi ordered her to admit her mistake.
  • Na'er mistook Gu Yue for Xia Yi's ally and offered to cut off a finger so Xia Yi would let her and Tang Wulin go.
  • Tang Wulin tried to stop Na'er, but she sent him flying and chopped off her own little finger.
  • Holy Spirit Douluo Ya Li brought Na'er's finger to Xia Yi, who used his healing ability to regenerate it.
  • Na'er disbelieved that Xia Yi was a Support Soul Master and ran away.

Ch. 23Getting Smarter

After revealing that he had threatened Na'er to protect himself, Xia Yi refused to heal Tang Wulin and left with Gu Yue to seek a place in Eastsea Academy's First Class. Ye Yingluo immediately looked down on him because his Soul Power was only level ten.

  • Xia Yi explained to Holy Spirit Douluo Ya Li that he had tricked Na'er into believing he could hurt Tang Wulin, and Ya Li questioned his methods before leaving without forcing him to heal Tang Wulin.
  • Xia Yi refused Ya Li's request to heal Tang Wulin and agreed to let Gu Yue take him to First Class instead of wasting time trying to join Zero Class.
  • Gu Yue warned Xia Yi that First Class homeroom teacher Ye Yingluo resented Wu Zhangkong and had a grudge against Gu Yue.
  • Ye Yingluo recognized Gu Yue and criticized her for bringing a level-ten Soul Master whom she assumed Zero Class had rejected.

Ch. 24Wujin

Xia Yi sought admission to Ye Yingluo’s First Class and agreed to face a Two-Ring Soul Grandmaster for three minutes without soul skills. Ye Yingluo chose the cold, white-haired Wujin as his opponent and planned to have Wu Zhangkong watch the assessment.

  • Xia Yi told Ye Yingluo that he had passed Wu Zhangkong’s assessment, and she agreed to consider admitting him if he lasted three minutes against a Two-Ring Soul Grandmaster who could not use soul skills.
  • Xia Yi accepted the challenge, while Gu Yue tried to explain that his First Soul Skill was only an auxiliary skill.
  • Gu Yue warned Xia Yi that Wei Xiaofeng, a Soul Grandmaster with the Azure Shadow Snake martial soul, was First Class’s remaining two-ring student.
  • Ye Yingluo brought Wujin to face Xia Yi and ordered him to defeat Xia Yi within three minutes.
  • Ye Yingluo revealed that she had invited teachers from the other classes so Wu Zhangkong could watch the fight.

Ch. 25Snow Jade Lion Emperor

Xia Yi challenged Wujin, a Two-Ring Soul Grandmaster with a powerful Snow Jade Lion Martial Soul, and stunned everyone by overpowering him with his immense strength. Wujin escaped Xia Yi’s grip and counterattacked, leaving the fight unresolved.

  • Holy Spirit Douluo Ya Li and Na'er stayed to watch Xia Yi challenge Wujin, while the other teachers and students gathered at the training field.
  • Wujin revealed two Thousand-Year Soul Rings and a formidable Snow Jade Lion Martial Soul, which Wu Zhangkong, Gu Yue, and Na'er recognized as possibly belonging to a Snow Jade Lion Emperor.
  • Wujin charged Xia Yi with his claws, but Xia Yi grabbed his arm and slammed him into the ground with overwhelming strength.
  • Wujin made his arm pliant to slip free of Xia Yi’s grasp, then clenched his fist and counterattacked.

Ch. 26Evil Spirit Master

Xia Yi battled Wujin, who revealed a powerful Self-Created Soul Skill, and the two ended their fight without a clear victor. Wujin conceded and left, while Ya Li explained that he was an Evil Spirit Master whose dangerous power could consume him if the battle continued.

  • Wujin escaped Xia Yi’s grip and struck him with the Lion Emperor Roar, but Xia Yi regained his senses and met the attack, staggering backward without being injured.
  • Xia Yi chose not to use tricks, and Wujin declared that they were even before admitting defeat to Ye Yingluo and leaving.
  • Wu Zhangkong recognized Wujin’s Lion Emperor Roar as a Self-Created Soul Skill and wondered how one had appeared at Eastsea Academy.
  • Ya Li praised Xia Yi’s reactions and told Na'er that Wujin’s strength could threaten Ye Xinglan if he fought all out.
  • Ya Li explained that Wujin had conceded because the evil power inside him might consume him if the fight continued.

Ch. 27I Wish He'd Listen to Me Too

Holy Spirit Douluo Ya Li discovered that Wujin was struggling to suppress Evil Spirit Master power and decided to watch over him in Eastsea City. Xia Yi stayed in Wujin’s dormitory, while Gu Yue told Na’er that Xia Yi was not a Hundred-Thousand-Year Transformed Soul Beast and admitted she wished he would listen to her.

  • Holy Spirit Douluo Ya Li noticed the faint red glow in Wujin’s eyes and explained that he was suppressing Evil Spirit Master power, so she decided to remain in Eastsea City and monitor him.
  • Ye Yingluo brought Xia Yi to Wujin’s dormitory, explained the sinister force corroding Wujin’s Spiritual World, and told Xia Yi to attend school with him the next morning.
  • After Ye Yingluo left, Xia Yi began meditating to break through to Rank Eleven Soul Power while Holy Spirit Douluo Ya Li silently watched over them.
  • Na’er demanded that Gu Yue have Xia Yi killed, but Gu Yue argued that he was not a Hundred-Thousand-Year Transformed Soul Beast.
  • Gu Yue revealed that Xia Yi was at most a Ten-Year Transformed Soul Beast and murmured that she wished he would listen to her too.

Ch. 28The Lion Emperor Never Dies, the Endless Never Perish

As Xia Yi broke through during cultivation beside Wujin, his consciousness witnessed the Lion Emperor’s last stand against the Abyssal Creatures in the Endless Mountains. The Lion Emperor’s blood mist escaped with the Soul Beasts’ essence and Soul Rings, while the Abyssal army advanced toward human cities.

  • Holy Spirit Douluo Ya Li observed that Wujin endured an immense number of unusual Wraiths and marveled that Xia Yi could cultivate and break through beside him.
  • Xia Yi’s consciousness entered a snowy mountain range, where the Lion Emperor fought Abyssal Creatures pouring through passages into the Endless Mountains.
  • The Lion Emperor’s forces were overwhelmed, and the Abyssal Creatures gathered the dead Soul Beasts to prepare a sacrifice for the Holy Monarch.
  • The Abyssal Dragon and other powerful Abyssal Creatures shattered the Lion Emperor, but the fallen Soul Beasts’ souls and essence rallied around his blood mist.
  • The Soul Rings flew into the Lion Emperor’s blood mist, which escaped the Forbidden Mountain Range as the Abyssal army began charging toward human cities.

Ch. 29Resentment

Xia Yi learned that Wujin was an avenger formed from the souls and essence of Soul Beasts killed in the Endless Mountains, and that resentment over Gu Yue was threatening to turn him into an Evil Spirit Master. Wujin urged Xia Yi to absorb some of that resentment, while Xia Yi suspected the Plane Master had guided Wujin to Eastsea Academy to make the resentment consume him.

  • Wujin told Xia Yi that he was not truly the Snow Jade Lion Emperor, but an avenger pieced together from Soul Beast souls and essence.
  • Wujin revealed that a mysterious voice had told him Gu Yue was the transformed Master of Soul Beasts, and he warned Xia Yi to leave her.
  • Wujin explained that he had found Xia Yi in a Spiritual World where countless Soul Beast spirits' resentment constantly threatened him.
  • Wujin asked Xia Yi to absorb some of the spirits' resentment, but Xia Yi refused to risk becoming an Evil Spirit Master without a reason.
  • Wujin blamed Gu Yue's inaction for the resentment now threatening to break free and control him.
  • Xia Yi suspected the Plane Master had guided Wujin to Eastsea Academy so the resentment would consume him.

Ch. 30Absorbing Resentment

Xia Yi agreed to help Wujin absorb the resentment in exchange for a Hundred-Thousand-Year Ice Phoenix Flower, which could improve his cultivation and talent. After beginning the attempt, Xia Yi was overwhelmed by icy power and woke in his dormitory, frozen stiff.

  • Wujin offered Xia Yi a Hundred-Thousand-Year Ice Phoenix Flower if he tried to absorb the resentment inside him.
  • Xia Yi learned the flower could accelerate cultivation and improve his body and meridians, then agreed to help with strict conditions.
  • Wujin told Xia Yi to meditate and absorb resentment instead of the energy of heaven and earth.
  • Xia Yi began meditating, felt icy power fill his body, and froze stiff.
  • A voice called Xia Yi awake, and he found himself in the dormitory as Wujin anxiously asked whether he was alright.

Ch. 31Would You Join Zero Class?

After absorbing Wujin’s resentment through Deep Meditation, Xia Yi gained Soul Power but learned that more resentment could harm his body. At Eastsea Academy, Long Hengxu asked Wujin whether he would join Zero Class.

  • Wujin told Xia Yi that he had absorbed resentment for nearly an entire night while in Deep Meditation, bringing his Soul Power close to level eleven and a half.
  • Wujin warned Xia Yi that he needed to recover before absorbing more resentment, then reaffirmed that he would give Xia Yi the Ice Phoenix Flower he had promised.
  • By sunrise, Xia Yi could walk and went with Wujin to First Class, where the other students kept their distance from Wujin.
  • Ye Yingluo took Xia Yi and Wujin to register their student records and told Wujin to make a rational choice when speaking with Long Hengxu.
  • Long Hengxu asked Wujin whether he was willing to join Zero Class.

Ch. 32Refusing to Join Zero Class

Long Hengxu and Ye Yingluo tried to recruit Wujin into Zero Class, but he refused, saying he had his own way to manage the resentment in his body and would enter Shrek Academy when ready. The chapter left Wujin intent on becoming strong enough to join the Blood God Legion, while Xia Yi remained tied to helping him absorb resentment.

  • Long Hengxu offered Wujin a place in Zero Class and promised academy resources, but Wujin refused.
  • Ye Yingluo urged Wujin to accept, pointing to the danger of his condition and Xia Yi's weakened state after spending the night in his dormitory.
  • Wujin revealed that Xia Yi had reached Soul Power level eleven, and Ye Yingluo realized he had cultivated overnight.
  • Xia Yi suspected Ye Yingluo had deliberately placed him in Wujin's dormitory, and the narration revealed she had arranged for other First Class students to sleep near Wujin to reduce his resentment.
  • Ye Yingluo presented Wujin with the Zero Class agreement again, but he refused, saying he had a way to handle the resentment and planned to enter Shrek Academy when his cultivation allowed.
  • Wujin explained that he wanted to use Shrek Academy to grow strong enough to join the Blood God Legion.

Ch. 33You Think I'm Fooling a Ghost?

Wujin rejected Long Hengxu’s attempts to recruit him into Zero Class, while Xia Yi reflected on his uncertain goals and lack of interest in Shrek Academy. After class, Xia Yi met Gu Yue in the cafeteria, where she doubted his claim that he had just broken through.

  • Long Hengxu urged Wujin to join Zero Class to improve his chances of entering Shrek Academy, but Wujin refused and claimed he and Xia Yi could succeed from First Class.
  • Xia Yi said he was not interested in Shrek Academy and thought about his weak sense of belonging to the Star Dou Forest, his admiration for Wujin, and his wish to cultivate and recover his memories.
  • Ye Yingluo and Long Hengxu dismissed Xia Yi’s prospects, took his photograph for a Student ID Card, and kept Wujin behind to keep persuading him.
  • Xia Yi struggled through a First Class lesson on the Second Profession, then found the cafeteria and noticed how much better Zero Class’s Grade A Meals were.
  • Gu Yue saw Xia Yi looking unwell and asked what had happened; Xia Yi said he had broken through, but Gu Yue doubted him.

Ch. 34Second Profession

Xia Yi asked Gu Yue for advice about choosing a Second Profession, and she explained how Mechas, Battle Armor, and their related crafts worked. She urged him to try Forging first, noting that becoming a God-Rank Blacksmith could help all Soul Beasts.

  • Xia Yi revealed that his Soul Power had reached level eleven and said he expected to reach Two-Ring within a year.
  • Gu Yue bought Xia Yi an expensive Grade A Meal after he complained about her offer to treat him.
  • Xia Yi asked Gu Yue to explain Second Professions because he had missed lessons and knew little about Mechas or Battle Armor.
  • Gu Yue explained that Battle Armor Masters needed skills such as designing, making, or repairing their armor, while Forging was another possible Second Profession.
  • Gu Yue advised Xia Yi to try Forging because it relied on strength and a God-Rank Blacksmith could help all Soul Beasts.

Ch. 35Blacksmith Association

Xia Yi went to the Eastsea City Blacksmith Association to learn forging, only to discover that joining required a letter of introduction. After learning that blacksmith rank assessments were free, he decided to take one as a way to begin learning and improve his chances of joining.

  • Gu Yue warned Xia Yi that the Douluo Continent could have only one God-Rank Blacksmith, so he could not forge for Soul Beasts, and Xia Yi considered learning forging.
  • Ye Yingluo told Xia Yi that Eastsea Academy had no blacksmith teachers and advised him to apply at the Blacksmith Association, mentioning Mu Xi as a possible contact.
  • Xia Yi visited the Eastsea City Blacksmith Association and learned from the receptionist that joining required a letter of introduction.
  • An old Level-Four Blacksmith arrived with a young disciple for her Level-One assessment, and Xia Yi learned that blacksmith rank assessments were free.
  • Xia Yi asked to take a blacksmith rank assessment so he could begin learning and eventually join the association.

Ch. 36Everything Under Control

Ten-year-old Xia Yi entered the Blacksmith Association to take a rank test and arranged to watch Wu Qian forge after she and her master, Ao Chuang, insulted him. He waited in their test room, intending to learn from Ao Chuang’s guidance while appearing eager to challenge Wu Qian.

  • Xia Yi convinced the Blacksmith Association receptionist he was a blacksmith by lifting the granite front desk counter.
  • Xia Yi filled out a test form and revealed that he was ten years old and a first-year student at Eastsea Academy.
  • Xia Yi insisted on using the same test room as Wu Qian and Ao Chuang, claiming he wanted to slap Wu Qian in the face.
  • The staff member brought Xia Yi to Test Room Number Five, where Ao Chuang and Wu Qian questioned his presence.
  • Wu Qian accepted Xia Yi’s challenge and let him watch her test, while Xia Yi pretended to meditate and prepared to remember Ao Chuang’s instructions.

Ch. 37Learning Forging

Xia Yi watched Wu Qian take her first-level blacksmith test and carefully learned Ao Chuang’s Forging instructions. After Wu Qian passed, Xia Yi chose Crimson Flame Copper and began preparing for his own test.

  • Ao Chuang warned Wu Qian to steady her mind before the evaluator arrived to assess her.
  • Wu Qian chose Crimson Flame Copper and used a Thousand Refinement Hammer to purify it while Ao Chuang coached her and Xia Yi watched closely.
  • The evaluator awarded Wu Qian a score of sixty-three, making her a first-level blacksmith.
  • Xia Yi chose Crimson Flame Copper, heated it on the Forging Table, and took a twenty-kilogram Hundred Refinement Hammer from the wall.

Ch. 38Level-Two Blacksmith

Ten-year-old Xia Yi passed the Blacksmith Rank Test with extraordinary forging results despite having never learned Forging. After he earned fifteen thousand Federal Coins for his component, the evaluator alerted Chairman Mu Chen, who ordered Xia Yi’s information and test footage sent to his office.

  • Xia Yi struck Crimson Flame Copper with two fifty-kilogram hammers, earning a score of ninety-five for purification roughly four times better than Hundred Refinement.
  • The evaluator told Wu Qian and Ao Chuang to leave and keep the Blacksmith Rank Test secret, then tested Xia Yi by having him forge a component.
  • Xia Yi successfully forged the component and qualified for a Level-Two Blacksmith badge, which he would collect in two days.
  • Xia Yi sold the component to the Blacksmith Association for fifteen thousand Federal Coins and left.
  • The evaluator told Chairman Mu Chen that Xia Yi had passed the test despite never learning Forging, then ordered staff to send Xia Yi’s information and test footage to the chairman’s office.

Ch. 39Do Good Deeds, Leave Someone Else's Name

Xia Yi rescued Mu Xi from a car crash, healed her severe injuries, and took her to Eastsea Academy's infirmary, where he paid for her surgery. As Tang Wulin and Mu Chen realized Xia Yi was the rescuer, they hurried to the infirmary to find Mu Xi.

  • Xia Yi pulled the unconscious Mu Xi from her crashing car, healed her external wounds, and carried her to Eastsea Academy's infirmary.
  • Xia Yi paid fifteen thousand Federal Coins for Mu Xi's surgery, then entered the operating room and healed a damaged artery with Star Shift.
  • Xia Yi healed Mu Xi's remaining wounds, and the doctor said she would soon wake and could be discharged.
  • Mu Chen questioned Tang Wulin about saving Mu Xi, but Tang Wulin said he had not left Eastsea Academy.
  • Tang Wulin identified Xia Yi as the likely rescuer and ran to the infirmary while Mu Chen and Yuan Bao'er flew to Eastsea Academy.

Ch. 40Advance by Retreating

After Mu Xi woke in the Eastsea Academy School Infirmary, Xia Yi collected the surgical fees and left before Mu Chen arrived. The doctor explained that Xia Yi had helped save Mu Xi during a dangerous operation, leaving Mu Chen interested in learning more about him.

  • Mu Xi woke up confused, and Xia Yi showed her the surgical records and collected fifteen thousand Federal Coins for the operation.
  • Mu Xi recognized Xia Yi as a Level Two blacksmith and realized he was Mu Chen’s daughter’s rescuer before he left to handle the damaged shop.
  • Mu Chen, Yuan Bao'er, and Tang Wulin arrived and questioned Mu Xi about her injuries and surgery.
  • The doctor explained that Mu Xi’s heart-adjacent blood vessels had been badly damaged and that Xia Yi’s help had been crucial to the successful surgery.
  • Mu Xi learned Xia Yi had assisted during the operation and grew angry that he had seen her chest, while Mu Chen asked Tang Wulin what he knew about Xia Yi.
