"What is that!?"

Within the city, the cannon fire ceased, and the defending soldiers looked up at the sky.

At that moment, in the night, a gigantic, multicolored streamer floated and danced, like a long, slender, floating rainbow serpent.

Judging by its size, its body was several hundred meters long. From a distance, it looked incomparably massive.

"What is that!?"

The people stared blankly at the incomprehensible object, involuntarily voicing their shocked questions.

In the deep sea, there was a type of siphonophore. A single individual was not large, but when countless individuals gathered together, they could form an exaggeratedly enormous body.

A single Queen of Light was not very large, either. Its body was about the same size as a Kikaichū.

Though Kikaichū could accomplish something similar, they were fundamentally different from the Queen of Light.

The Queen of Light's clusters were not simply stuck together. They were deeply linked with one another, forming a huge composite organism.

It was like an integrated circuit: the transistors, diodes, resistors, and other components required by a circuit were wired together and manufactured on a small semiconductor wafer or several wafers, then sealed inside a casing to become a miniature structure with the desired functions.

Kikaichū could not do this. Each Kikaichū was a complete individual, not a component possessing only certain functions.

The Queen of Light, however, was structured this way.

An individual Queen of Light was incomplete, merely a tiny component of the complete organism.

This was another method of creating an oversized creature while bypassing the limitations imposed by body size.

Thus, various complete organisms with special functions could be formed for purposes such as attack and defense.
