Mimi's swarm could be divided into several basic types according to how they used chakra.

The first type was self-sufficient. The typical example was the Summer Red Soldier, which could produce a tiny amount of chakra on its own to activate the Exploding Formula on its body, without needing Mimi to provide additional chakra.

The second type was externally supplied. The typical example was the Kikaichū. They did not possess chakra themselves, but could seize and use other people's chakra. In battle, casting Ninjutsu required the user to provide a large amount of chakra to activate it.

The Autumn Tiger Elephant, on the other hand, belonged to the compound type. It could both generate chakra itself and draw it from others.

A single Autumn Tiger Elephant, limited by its bodily cells, had a peak internal chakra reserve that basically remained at the level of a Chunin. It did not possess a Jonin-level chakra supply.

Because of this limitation, the amount of chakra it could output at once was restricted. Even if it could draw chakra from others and transfer it to maintain a stable reserve, this could not significantly change the situation.
