Dark Abyss

Bi Zihan and Qian Renxue looked at the enormous spiders right in front of them and swung their longswords without mercy. At the same time, they kept a constant watch on the chains around their hands, lest they suffer unnecessary injuries because of them.

What relieved them was that these spiders were not particularly strong, and their defenses were extremely weak. They only needed to watch out for the spiders' sharp legs, venom, and the webs they shot out.

As the two dodged the spiders' attacks, every swing of their longswords easily killed a giant spider. However, the number of spiders only continued to grow. Everywhere they looked, the ground was covered with them.

Time gradually passed, and their stamina steadily drained away. Even the speed at which they swung their swords slowly decreased. In a place neither of them noticed, an exceptionally sharp spider leg stabbed into the chain and nailed it to the ground, abruptly bringing their charging bodies to a halt.

Just as they were about to use their swords to chop through the sharp spider leg, a sound came from beneath them. Before they could react, the ground instantly split apart, and their bodies rapidly fell into the abyss.

Listening to the wind howling past his ears, Bi Zihan had no time to think. He thrust Doomsday Judgment into the stone wall before him, hoping to use it to slow his descent.

After the sword pierced the stone wall, it did reduce their falling speed somewhat, but stone fragments flew everywhere. Above them, venom sprayed by the spiders continued to drip down into the abyss.

Bi Zihan pulled on the chain in his hand and hauled Qian Renxue up from below. "Use your sword to block the venom. It'll be troublesome if it gets on us."

Qian Renxue glanced upward and realized that there was no way to block all of the venom, especially while they were falling with no foothold at all.

Yet she said nothing. Instead, she fiercely swung the longsword in her hand, doing her best to deflect the falling venom. During this time, it seemed as though something had gotten into Bi Zihan's eyes, forcing them shut.

After an unknown amount of time, Bi Zihan felt his hands growing sore. Doomsday Judgment, embedded in the wall, slipped from his grasp of its own accord. Their bodies rapidly fell once again.

A slightly pained groan escaped Bi Zihan's mouth, and he could not help saying, "Big sis, are you all right? If you are, get off me."

"Big sis my ass! How are you? Are you hurt?" Qian Renxue looked herself over and, after finding that she seemed to be fine, climbed off Bi Zihan.

"Nonsense. We fell from that high up, and then you landed on top of me. Do you think I'm hurt or not?" Bi Zihan felt as though not a single part of his body was free of pain. He also had no idea what had gotten into his eyes; he could not even open them.

"Bastard, why didn't the fall kill you?" Qian Renxue swept a glance over Bi Zihan on the ground, then began surveying their surroundings.

Thick black fog shrouded the area. Visibility was only about three meters, and they could not make out the surrounding situation at all.

"What's going on here? Is there anything around us?" Enduring the pain throughout his body, Bi Zihan sat up from the ground and asked Qian Renxue.

"Can't you see for yourself? Why ask me?" Qian Renxue also sat down. The area was relatively safe for the moment, so they could rest briefly and recover some of their strength.

"If I could see, would I need to ask you?" Bi Zihan's voice carried a trace of helplessness. He had been sleeping perfectly well—how had he ended up in this damned place? That was what baffled him most.

"The surroundings are relatively safe. I haven't found anything dangerous for now. Don't move. Let me check your eyes." Qian Renxue leaned close to Bi Zihan, held his eyelids open with her hand, and found that his eyes were filled with dust and tiny stone fragments.

Qian Renxue gently blew into his eyes, helping him clear out the dust and stone chips. After a while, she finally said, "It should be fine now. How do you feel?"

Bi Zihan blinked, gradually able to see the things around him clearly again. He nodded. "Mm, I can see now."

"I suddenly realized that you're actually quite cute. So why are the things you do always so infuriating?" Qian Renxue sat back down and continued recovering her strength.

"What did I do? I remember this is only the second time we've met. The first time, who was it that started fighting the moment she showed up? I don't think I ever provoked you." Bi Zihan lay back down, trying to make himself as comfortable as possible.

"If it weren't for you, how could that woman have hated me so much since I was little? She's never even looked at me properly. Isn't that all because of you?" Anger surfaced in Qian Renxue's eyes again, and the sound of her grinding her teeth could even be heard.

"Because of me? What does that have to do with me? If you want to know why, go ask her yourself. Don't pin everything on me. If I did it, I'll admit it. If I didn't, I definitely won't take the blame." Bi Zihan glanced at her. He absolutely would not take the blame for this. Naturally, he knew why Bibi Dong treated her that way, but it was not convenient for him to say.

"We can put this matter aside for now. Let's get out of here first, then talk about everything else." Qian Renxue's gaze continually swept over the area, seemingly searching for a way out.

"There are only two options now. Either we climb up the stone wall, or we search below for another way out. But I think the only exit here is to climb out along the stone wall." Bi Zihan looked around and leaned toward climbing back up the wall directly.

"Climb up? You make it sound easy. We can't even see the top of the wall. How are we supposed to climb it? And there isn't a single foothold on it." Qian Renxue looked at the wall in front of them, then around them, seemingly considering the safest method.

"It's dark everywhere here, and we can't tell which way is which. If we wander around in the darkness, it'll be easy to get lost. Then we might never get out." Bi Zihan looked at the stone wall. Although they could not see its top, they had just fallen straight down from above it, so climbing the wall would definitely lead them out.

"The question is, how do we climb it? There isn't even a foothold, and we can't release our martial souls. Do you think we can really climb up?" Qian Renxue said irritably. The stone wall was incredibly steep. They had no tools and could not use their martial souls. Relying on physical strength alone, climbing up was basically impossible.
