The armored regiment moved quickly. The checkpoint Jiang Yan Hai had chosen was only about forty kilometers from here. Those men were not advancing very fast, so judging by the distance, the armored regiment would probably arrive first.
"Move, move, move! Floor it!" Zhang Ronghua had a short temper. The moment he climbed onto a tank, he immediately shouted.

Though there was only one company of tanks, he had somehow driven them like an entire regiment. On plains like these, tanks found little difference between the wilderness and a smooth road. The Type 99A Tank barreled ahead at fifty kilometers per hour, despite this not being a highway.
Still, it was not much different from an ordinary road. The trucks following behind had it even easier; modern trucks were nothing like their old-fashioned ones.
After the drones spotted those men, they never left their airspace, circling overhead at all times. The men wore matching khaki uniforms and carried rifles like those used by the Yang Qing Town militia, roughly equivalent to Mauser 1888s.
They were actually considered fairly decent weapons. Many domestic rifles during World War II were only around that level.
More than forty minutes later, Jiang Yan Hai led his forces to the location. They had chosen this choke point because hills rose on both sides, with the road running between them. However, the hills were gentle, rolling slopes.
The road through the middle was also broad, nothing like the narrow valleys in mountainous regions, but it was at least a path people had traveled often.
Zhang Ronghua's trucks carried the materials for setting up a checkpoint. They immediately stacked sandbags, then set a horizontal pole across them to create a simple roadblock.
