The entire conference room fell silent. To be honest, the military and intelligence agencies were often deeply at odds. Some soldiers looked down on intelligence work, believing it was too underhanded.
But military operations needed intelligence, so the relationship between the two could be strange at times. The problem was that many of those present were military generals. They all knew what kind of impact it would have if the CIA's operations and leaders around the world were assassinated.
Not to mention their several foreign wars—the wars in the Middle East, the wars after 9/11, and so on. They might have looked like military operations, but in reality, the CIA deserved at least half the credit.
That was the power of intelligence. Without sufficient intelligence, you would not even know who to bomb with your missiles.
So these generals all understood clearly that they could not afford such losses. The CIA's major losses were their losses as well.
"We can't avoid him, so we need to reassess his operational capabilities. And now, we have no choice but to consider something." The CIA director spoke bluntly.
Everyone's gaze focused on him. They all watched him without saying a word.
"There's something I don't know whether you've overlooked, but we've been tracking Liston Han Xiao for many years. First of all, every time he disappeared, he vanished without a trace. We could not find any trace of him at all. Note that I mean any trace!"
