This place was about a kilometer away from them. Jiang Yan Hai had previously scanned it with the Advanced Scanning Program. It had a pillar-like protrusion extending into the sea like a pier, and roughly eight or nine meters from shore on one side, the water depth was already close to seven meters.
This already counted as a natural dock. Although the water depth rose sharply to less than two meters within eight or nine meters of the shore, that actually made it more suitable as a dock.
They sailed the freighter directly over. The multibeam echo sounding system specially installed on the ship had already begun operating. Combined with satellite-drawn maps and the positioning system, they had surveyed every detectable section of seabed terrain along the way.
This was especially true for the waters near the coast. It took less than an hour to survey every detail of the surrounding sea area.
The captain said in amazement, "This place is truly a perfect natural dock. There's an underwater cliff here. About nine meters from shore, the water depth has already reached seven meters. Even at full load, our draft is only 4.5 meters."
"With that draft, even larger freighters can berth here later. Anything under ten thousand tons should basically be no problem."
"If possible, start immediately," Jiang Yan Hai said with a nod.
"Good!" The captain immediately began issuing orders.
First, they used a specially carried pile driver to drive thick steel columns nearly twenty meters into the seabed. Each steel column was thirty meters long.
They drove in eleven steel columns at intervals of ten meters. The sides of every two columns had slotted openings, into which they inserted five-centimeter-thick steel plates.
A hundred-meter-long steel wall took shape in the sea. Then, on the side nearest the
