Jiang Yan Hai smiled as well. "Behind every successful general lie ten thousand bones. So for the honor you bear, you should strive to let more soldiers survive."
"I will." Commander Lin immediately nodded, then turned to look seriously at Jiang Yan Hai. "Colonel Jiang, General Deng told me that you do not seem to believe the Taotie have been destroyed by us?"
"No, it is not that I do not believe you destroyed the Taotie. I am merely saying that the Taotie led by this Beast King were destroyed. But who said the Taotie only had one Beast King?" Jiang Yan Hai replied calmly.
"What do you mean?" Commander Lin's expression immediately changed.
"Commander Lin, let me ask you a few questions." Jiang Yan Hai did not answer, instead responding with a question.
"Go ahead," Commander Lin said at once.
"First, let us put everything else aside and consider one point. The Taotie may be monsters, said to be Heaven's punishment upon mankind. But the Beast King needs vast amounts of food to reproduce. How much food can it eat? You and I have both seen its size. One person? Ten people? A hundred people? Or a thousand? Even if it could eat a thousand people, would it need to go to Bianliang?" Jiang Yan Hai raised his first question.
Commander Lin froze for a moment, then immediately furrowed his brow. Most of their knowledge of the Taotie came from historical records. They had only fought the Taotie a few times themselves, and though they had destroyed the Beast King, they could hardly claim to understand them deeply.
"I imagine you sent people to dissect the Beast King. Though it can consume many things, I doubt it could eat a hundred people," Jiang Yan Hai said with a smile
