How Do You Know How to Do Everything? (Part 1)

The company headquarters was not far from the position, and Jiang Yan Hai quickly arrived at the entrance to the command tent.

"Report!" Jiang Yan Hai called out.

"Come in. Jiang Yan Hai, what is it?" Gong Jian immediately asked when he saw Jiang Yan Hai enter.

"Instructor, I actually have some personal thoughts I'd like to share." Jiang Yan Hai hesitated. He was just a new recruit, after all, and didn't really have much say.

But he couldn't just stand by and let Fourth Company get mostly wiped out here.

There were very few people in the command tent anyway—just four of them: two communication soldiers, Gong Jian, and Old Hei. The atmosphere in the company was usually fairly relaxed, so Jiang Yan Hai decided to speak bluntly.

"Go ahead." Gong Jian was curious, but he did not refuse. They all knew Jiang Yan Hai was sharp-minded, and he wanted to hear what Jiang Yan Hai had in mind.

"It's actually very simple. I think the order we just received is wrong." Jiang Yan Hai got straight to the point.

"How is it wrong?" Gong Jian asked curiously.

"We just received orders to hold Hill 291. But I looked over the map of the area earlier, and I've memorized all the terrain around us. Although Hill 291 is a position we seized, it is the highest point for attacking the enemy—not the best position for defense."

"If we use this place as a defensive position, the Blue Army can easily wipe us out."

"So, the order we received during the day was to seize this place. Perhaps the Red Army headquarters was preparing to launch an offensive. But now we've received an order to defend it. The regiment commander and headquarters couldn't possibly fail to see that this place is almost impossible to defend." Jiang Yan Hai simply laid out his thoughts.

Everything he said was true. The order to hold Hill 291 was a false order issued by the Blue Army through the Iron Fist Regiment's command headquarters.

"You mean...?" Gong Jian froze for a moment.

"Instructor, if you try to contact regiment headquarters now, I'm afraid you won't be able to reach them," Jiang Yan Hai said directly.

"Contact regiment headquarters immediately and confirm the order," Gong Jian ordered at once.

"Yes!" The communication soldier immediately began trying to contact regiment headquarters.

But just as Jiang Yan Hai had said, there was no response at all.

"Report, our communications appear to have been cut off. We can't reach regiment headquarters," the communication soldier quickly reported.

"Could the equipment be broken?" Gong Jian immediately grew anxious. If Jiang Yan Hai's guess was correct, then wasn't the Iron Fist Regiment finished?

"Instructor, can you let me handle it?" Jiang Yan Hai stopped being modest and spoke up directly.

"What do you mean?" Gong Jian paused.

"This." Jiang Yan Hai pointed at the individual communications system and military laptop beside them.

"You know how to use this too?" Gong Jian stared at him in astonishment.

"I studied computers a little when I was in college," Jiang Yan Hai said with a smile.

"You do it," Gong Jian ordered immediately.

The communication soldier promptly gave up his seat, looking at Jiang Yan Hai with curiosity.

Of course he knew who Jiang Yan Hai was. Jiang Yan Hai was currently the star of the entire Fourth Company—no, he should say, the star of the whole regiment.

But this was hardly Jiang Yan Hai's field of expertise.

Yet the moment Jiang Yan Hai sat down before the laptop, he issued a command in his mind to connect to it. Once the Electronic Warfare Support Program linked to the laptop, Jiang Yan Hai's fingers immediately began flying across the keyboard.

His hands moved incredibly fast, producing a rapid clatter over the keys as the pages on the computer screen changed in an instant.

"This..." The communication soldier beside him was completely dumbfounded. In barely a dozen seconds, Jiang Yan Hai had already entered the system's underlying database.

And he had immediately begun cracking the signal.

Seeing the communication soldier's stunned expression, Gong Jian and Old Hei could not help leaning over to ask, "How's he doing?"

"An expert!" The communication soldier immediately spat out two words.

To be honest, this communication soldier could only be considered professionally trained in this field. Whether he was particularly advanced was another matter; he was merely familiar with the overall system.

But even if he was not exceptional, he had still graduated from a related specialty and naturally knew something about these matters.

When an expert made a move, one could immediately tell whether they had the skill. The instant Jiang Yan Hai got to work, he knew at once that this man was an expert!

"So... what are you doing?" Gong Jian could not help asking after hearing the word "expert." Why did it feel like Jiang Yan Hai knew how to do everything?

At that moment, code was already flooding across the laptop screen in front of Jiang Yan Hai. They could not understand any of it now, so Gong Jian could only ask.

"I'm cracking the signal. I just checked, and all our signals have been blocked. That leaves only one explanation: something has happened at regiment headquarters. So now I need a tool." Jiang Yan Hai spoke while hammering away at the keyboard.

In truth, the cracking had long been completed. He was only putting on a show for Gong Jian and the others.

"I'm currently cracking into civilian signals. We use military communications signals, but the Blue Army has technically blocked ours, so we can't directly contact Red Army headquarters. However, the mountains around here are covered by civilian signal towers. The Blue Army can't possibly interfere with civilian signals. Okay, got it!"

As Jiang Yan Hai finished speaking, he struck the keyboard. The display on the laptop changed, and Jiang Yan Hai swiftly downloaded a tool—the small program he had written last time.

After using it previously, he had taken spare moments over the past few days to refine and optimize this intrusion program. And it had to be said that although the Red Star Engine had rated his hacking skills at only B-rank, that B-rank rating had come from the Red Star Engine!

After Jiang Yan Hai's own tests, with the assistance of the Electronic Warfare Support Program, his little program's intrusion efficiency had been absurdly powerful. It gave Jiang Yan Hai a profound understanding of just how capable his B-rank hacking skills truly were.

The Red Star Engine might have rated his hacking ability as B-rank, but on a global scale, it might well be S-rank—or perhaps even SSS-rank!

After downloading the program, Jiang Yan Hai immediately ran it. A new display quickly appeared on the laptop screen before him, and data instantly began scrolling across it.

This test made Jiang Yan Hai realize that his hacking skills were truly formidable. Since he was now scanning and infiltrating from within the military system rather than breaking in from outside it, his intrusion speed was extremely fast.

Although the Blue Army had blocked the signals in this area, they had merely blocked them. They had overlooked the possibility that the other side might have a computer expert.

As a result, Jiang Yan Hai easily obtained the information he needed.

"Instructor, Squad Leader Old Hei, take a look." The display on Jiang Yan Hai's laptop quickly shifted again.

"What is this?" What appeared on the screen was something resembling a map, except it was covered in blue points of light.

"Although we use a military system, aside from radio communications, our communications still rely on civilian networks. This is the signal communication intensity I calculated from the nearby signal towers. The denser the blue points, the more frequent the communications. And I've already marked out the control zones of the Red and Blue Armies."
