You Think Too Little of Me (Part 2)

"What the hell did he mean by this?!"

Three days!

It had already been three days, and Lu Zhou was about to lose his mind.

Three days ago, after the other party discovered the encryption modules they had set up, he had made a move. But soon afterward, they realized that he seemed to have vanished. It was as though he had never touched that computer again.

Even though the computer had remained powered on the entire time.

Fine, testing him had indeed been a decision they made on their own.

But if he did not want to deal with them, he could have just gone about his own business. What did it mean for him to suddenly go completely silent?

Lu Zhou was frustrated as hell. Most importantly, they could not contact that side directly. Their superiors had ordered them not to disturb Jiang Yan Hai.

But this feeling was seriously unpleasant, okay?! It was like being blatantly ignored!

Still, no matter how unhappy he was, all he could do was wait. At that moment, Lu Zhou sat in his chair with a cup of coffee in hand, yawning nonstop and looking utterly exhausted.

Since he had no idea when that guy would make a move, and he wanted to notice it the instant it happened, he had barely gotten any proper rest over the past three days.

"Forget it. I'm not waiting anymore. He can do whatever the hell he wants. I'm going to sleep." Annoyed, Lu Zhou set his coffee on the table and stood up.

The moment he finished speaking, a programmer on the left suddenly jumped to his feet. "He's made a move!"

"What?!" Lu Zhou froze for a moment, then rushed over at once.

Lu Zhou darted behind the programmer and looked at the screen in front of him.

"What does this mean? What is he doing? Restarting the system?" Lu Zhou was stunned.

The screen before them had gone black, and the connection had clearly been severed. The computer was probably rebooting—or perhaps shutting down entirely.

So after leaving them hanging for three days, he was telling them he was not going to play with them anymore?

"Fuck!" Lu Zhou could not help swearing.

"No, he's rebooting the computer." The programmer suddenly spoke after one of the programs on the screen showed a new response.

Their monitoring program had been built directly into the system, so it would respond immediately when the system booted up.

But they quickly realized that something was wrong.

"Why can't I control it? What's wrong with this part of the system?"

"Wait, what the hell is this? What does unable to read or write mean? Did he mess with our program?"

"That's impossible. We've been monitoring it the whole time for the past three days."

"Then tell me why this part of the system is different. The program says there's a read error."

Suddenly, everyone in the hall seemed to wake up, because error messages kept appearing on the screens before them.

And all those errors came from the monitoring software, reporting file read errors.

"Move." Lu Zhou paused, his expression turning grave. He sat down directly and began operating the computer at high speed.

But as he worked, Lu Zhou's face became increasingly shocked. "How is this possible?!"

As he continued checking, Lu Zhou nearly had his jaw drop to the floor!

He stared dumbfounded at the computer screen before him. The diagnostic results told him with absolute certainty that this system was completely different from the one they had previously known!

"Everyone, sit down right now and test this system immediately. Old Five, Wang Peng, Liang Zi—you three, launch an external attack on this computer at once." Lu Zhou took a deep breath and gave the order loudly.

Everyone froze for a moment. "Yes!" They all snapped back to their senses and immediately sat down to work.

"Fuck! How is this possible?!"

"No way! This is the system's underlying data! How could it have changed?!"

"How did he do this?!"

"Holy shit, you can do that?!"

Exclamations rang out one after another. Everyone stared wide-eyed at their computer screens as if they were looking at a god.

Damn it, how had only three days passed, yet the system they were monitoring had completely changed?! Even its underlying source code and foundational data had been altered!

What kind of monster was this guy?! Who the hell was he?!

If they still could not figure out what the other party had done, they might as well bang their heads against a wall and die.

The person sitting at that computer had outright modified the entire operating system! Modified it!

And it was not some simple modification, either. He had made comprehensive changes starting from the underlying data! Now they could not even recognize their own system anymore. More importantly, he had done all of this under their surveillance!

In other words, right under their noses, he had spent only three days changing their system's underlying data beyond recognition!

Everyone felt deeply ashamed. This was such a humiliating slap in the face that they could barely hold their heads up!

It was like sitting in your living room watching TV while a thief walked into your house, stole the TV right in front of you, and you still failed to notice!

"No, boss, we can't get in. This system is completely different from the original one. Some of the methods we have are useless now. We have no way to start!" The three people responsible for hacking into the other party's system finally spoke with grave expressions.

"Are you sure?" Lu Zhou took a deep breath.

"I'm sure. There were several issues we had studied carefully before but could not solve, so we could only deal with them through other methods. But now, those issues—or rather, those vulnerabilities—have been fixed by him!" The three exchanged glances before answering with absolute certainty.

Lu Zhou stared silently at the computer screen before him. There had been no communication whatsoever between the two sides, yet what they were seeing now felt as though the other party were standing right in front of them, mocking them.

It was an invisible battle, but it had ended before they had even begun.

"Keep using every method we have to test this system. I need to make a call." Lu Zhou rose to his feet decisively.

"Yes!" The others were all technical people as well, and their competitive spirits had been roused. No one was willing to accept that something they had painstakingly researched could be inferior to something someone else had created in just three days.

Ding Tian was a little dazed when he received the call. He looked through the window into the room. For the first time in three days, the other man had just stepped away from the computer. After wolfing down a meal, he had collapsed straight onto the bed and fallen asleep. His snoring was loud enough to shake the room.

"Um, Commander, he's already asleep. He barely rested over the past three days. Aside from occasionally shoveling down a few bites of food, he was sitting in front of the computer the whole time." Ding Tian took a deep breath before speaking into the phone.

"Yes, I understand! I'll make sure he gets some rest." Whatever was said on the other end, Ding Tian raised his voice and replied.
