"Report!" Jiang Yan Hai called out loudly.
"Go ahead."
"Report, Commander! First, I obey orders! A soldier's duty is to obey orders! I have no objections. My superiors gave me orders to select personnel, and I chose those most useful to me to form this unit—a force capable of rapid deployment and combat anywhere, anytime, twenty-four hours a day! The military does not belong to any individual; it belongs to the people! No one is anyone's precious darling. I am a brick of the revolution, moved wherever I am needed."
Jiang Yan Hai spoke loudly without changing expression.
Fan Tian Lei and Master Kang, standing on either side of Jiang Yan Hai, could not help their mouths twitching. Fan Tian Lei was alright, but Master Kang was genuinely terrified. What kind of nerve did this kid have? Damn, he dared to blurt out anything?!
There was nothing wrong with those words, but the commander's question had just been asked, and Jiang Yan Hai's speech had shut down every possible line of argument! One huge ideological label after another was hidden within it. Who would dare respond? Who would dare continue?
Anyone who kept dwelling on this issue was practically asking to be dealt with.
The commander had merely said that he was taking other people's precious darlings, but this kid had gone straight to saying that the military belonged to the people. What else could anyone say?
Master Kang could see the expressions on the faces of the dozen or so generals opposite him. They were truly spectacular, every color imaginable. Quite a few of them were probably the direct commanding officers of those units.
"Mm, well said. You all heard him, right? Any more questions?" The Old Commander seated at the head of the table nearly laughed out loud.
