Laweier was just about to take control of his character and wreak havoc on the Gray Mist on the battlefield when a notification window suddenly popped up.
The window bore an owl emblem.
It was the emblem representing the King of the Frost Country, and it meant that every word written beneath it was an order from the King.
One of the orders read, "Friendly fire has been disabled on the battlefield, but aiming your weapon at anything unrelated to the Gray Mist remains prohibited."
A number of punishment mechanisms were listed below it.
Games were different from reality. Every action in a game could be recorded and counted by the system as data.
His Majesty had made it very clear that he would track the number of bullets used by every character and the number of times game characters respawned.
If a character respawned more than thirty times in a day of battle, they would be punished. Excessive ammunition use would also be punished.
"Does... making people in the game respawn in reality come at some kind of cost?"
Laweier's mind worked quickly. Since something as unbelievable as game characters appearing in reality had happened, he had no choice but to believe it.
He did not know how it worked, but it definitely could not allow unlimited revivals.
Where there were punishments, there would be rewards.
For every Gray Mist creature killed, Strife characters accumulated a certain number of points. The squad with the highest score on the battlefield would receive the King's commendation.
The rewards were money and honor. Those two things alone were enough to make ordinary soldiers give it their all.
But what Laweier cared about more was the system update listed beneath the King's orders.
"The Battlefield Mode Killstreak Support System has been updated."
