"Marriage?"
Ember repeated the utterly unfamiliar word. On one page of the book Cecily held, Ember's name was written clearly.
On the other side of that page was Joshua's name... the mastermind controlling the orange cat.
"This book is our clan's genealogy. By tradition, matters concerning our clan's spouses are decided by this book. Your name appeared on this page beside my younger brother Joshua's. In other words... you were supposed to be the fiancée of Joshua Anoroth, the Third Prince of the Demon Realm."
Cecily explained this to Ember with the grave seriousness of a teacher giving a biology lesson.
"Fi... ancée..."
As the Gray Mist Source, Ember should have had no understanding of men and women. To her, it was merely the distinction between male and female.
Human love, along with other emotions, seemed even more unnecessary to Ember.
But the problem was that Ember had lived in this manor for the past half month. Whenever she had nothing to do, she would browse the books in the manor's library.
Those books had greatly expanded Ember's understanding of the world, including stories of romance between human men and women.
Ember had thought the contents of those books were merely nonsense made up by human authors... but she had never expected something like a forced marriage to actually happen to her.
"I... accept." After thinking for a while, Ember slowly spoke those three words.
"You... accept what?"
For a moment, Cecily failed to process Ember's answer.
She had brought this book to Ember only to inform her of the matter.
When Joshua had first thrown this Gray Mist Source into the Demon Realm, Cecily's impression of her had been that she was extremely proud. Though she had not shown it openly... Cecily had already decided she would be difficult
