Alice froze when she heard the question.
Honestly, she had never considered the possibility of making a sacrifice to Amon. It was not a matter of whether Amon would accept it; more importantly... how was that any different from seeking death?
Come to think of it, could a person jump into a Sacrifice Channel...
That was what Alice thought, and she asked it aloud without thinking: "Can... can a person jump into a Sacrifice Channel?"
"Want me to throw you in and find out?" Amon shot Alice a chilly sideways glance.
Alice shook her head rapidly, afraid that if she were even a second slower, someone would toss her into the Sacrifice Channel. She spoke at breakneck speed:
"No, no need, thank you.
"There are mainly two reasons I have not used a Sacrifice Ritual. One is that I do not know what kinds of herbs, essential oils, and so on you might be interested in...
"The other is... is..."
Alice glanced at Amon and found that he was already looking directly at her, ready to hear her second reason. After a pause, she said with complete honesty:
"I do not dare."
The answer could not have been more candid. Amon looked Alice up and down before finally raising his brows. "You do not dare?"
Alice nodded with utter sincerity.
Amon asked in mild surprise, "Then why did you give me that painting? And write such a provocative letter?"
Alice fell silent for a moment, then frowned and asked, "Is that not precisely why I did not dare to give it to you?"
"Ahem." Amon cleared his throat, revealing a trace of amusement. "But logically speaking... whether last time or this time, which of the questions you asked right in front of me was not more infuriating than that painting?"
