Alice had been silent for too long. Klein stared at her for two seconds, confirmed that she had drifted off again, and couldn't help waving a hand in front of her face as he called out:
"Alice?"
"Ah," Alice snapped back to her senses. "I'm here... Uh, what were we talking about?"
Silent for Two Seconds, Klein asked in an odd tone:

Regrettably, Alice was not Amon and had no interest in eating Mid-to-Low Sequence Beyonder Characteristics.
Klein accepted Alice's explanation. He Shook Her Head and repeated what he had said earlier:
"Alice, before making a decision next time, remember to Think About It first—whether you have a way to clean up the mess... all right?"
Alice's movements paused slightly.
She rarely considered the consequences. It wasn't as though she was completely indifferent toward Other People, but the extent to which she cared went no further than basic courtesy.
Alice's greatest concern was merely making Klein angry—so she didn't voice what she truly thought. Instead, she nodded and earnestly agreed.
She Indeed Should Be considering which disasters Klein would not be too angry about after she caused them...
Something like Admiral Emlyn's pants falling down would make Klein somewhat angry, but not truly angry. He cared a little, but not that much; after all, it wasn't his
